Default TSP 231/237 595/598 112 LSA dyno results

This new cam is sweeeet!! On the first pull at the MTI dyno, after Jason's tune, my car peaked out at 378HP with the cutout closed. Made another run with it open and stepped it up to 382hp. Jason took a look at the numbers, and my SLP lid, and said that if I wanted to we could put an MTI lid on my car and it should gain about 10 ponies at the rear wheels. I was kind of sceptic but I figured what the hell. Sure enough after we tossed the SLP lid and they put on their MTI lid my HP hit 392 and 360 TQ AT THE REAR WHEELS THROUGH THE 12 BOLT . I couldnt believe it, but MTI knows their stuff. I will post a pic of the dyno sheet once I get it scanned and uploaded. Special thanx to Tommy, Kyle, Jason (MTI), and Wayne (MTI) for all the help.

Sceptic on the lid thing---------> Sounds like a selling ploy to me. Good numbers though.

I dont see how? Some lids flow better and others dont, and the quality of stuff that slp makes, i can understand another lid beating it bya few hp. You have got think that you trying to get the air around a 90* angle as fast as you can, that lid is going to make a difference with different designs, it might only be top end, but power is power

No way lid would make a 10rwhp difference on the top of the other one...Sorry - You got owned and they got additional $100 sale on that plastic MTI lid

Congrats on the numbers! Very impressive, especially with a 12-bolt.

I know MTI has an excellent reputation, which is well-deserved, but according to GMHTP's recent dyno test of seven air lids, SLP and TSP lids made 2-3 HP more than the rest. I say that not to argue that SLP's lid is the best, as 2-3 RWHP is hardly worth mentioning when discussing dyno numbers, but I don't think it was costing you 10 RWHP.

I could be wrong, though.

Did you read the complete article? The MTI lid made the most hp and ran the best at the track. BTW it also mentions that MTI is the original maker of the air lid.

MTI
325.5 RWHP
325.2 RWHP
326.2 RWHP

SLP
330.2 RWHP
331.1 RWHP
330.5 RWHP

The MTI lid did produce the best ET, but it also had the best 60' time. Granted, it did have the highest trap speed.

My point wasn't to say that the MTI lid is better or worse than the SLP, but that I don't feel the SLP lid was robbing him of 10 RWHP.

Anyway, sorry to pull the post off-topic.

Well the SLP lid i had was the black wing, and BTW SLP CLONED the MTI lid down to the exact same design. They didnt even try to hide it, just flat copied it, and I have the dyno sheet that shows the HP increase and 8 other guys that were there that saw the HP increase when I dynoed. MTI didnt make a single change to the car except de-screen the MAF and install the lid. No tuning or nothing, just a lid change. Believe what you want, but the numbers dont lie!

I was just another ole' Corpus guy there and saw the whole thing. That stock lookin' SLP lid that was on it looked quite restricted. There's no BS.

If they descreend the MAF at the same time as they did the lid then that's not a fair comparison. Taking out the screen helped lean the car out and that probably picked up the Hp. 10 horse is 10 horse and I'm glad they got it for you, that's the important point. Only a few more ponies to go to get that magic 400 number; good luck!

To add to this, pulling the screen will give yo a bigger number rightoff the bat. If you come back in a week after the car has adjusted to the de-screened MAF, then I'm sure your numbers will be right back where they were. If you had the blackwing lid, then I'm sure you gained a few. I have the blackwing lid on my SS and the way the couple the lid to the MAF is quite restricted and turbulent. You needed a new lid anyway.

I've seen the same result's.SLP lids are not as good as other lids when you add a H/C ect. They wrk great on stock cars though.

Congrats on the #'s.

Well i am just another buddy of Nakoz and i was also there at MTI when he dynoed his car. I think yall are missing something the Lid that was on his car before was the stock lid that comes on the SLP SS. After Jason descreened the MAF which was good for about 3hp then he put the MTI lid on which was good for the rest to total 10 extra ponies to the wheels. No BS here. Congrats on the numbers Roy.

Keep in mind the two different "SLP" lids there were. And damn people he's happy with his Dyno #'s....just drop the damn lid thing. Unless you are all paid to support different companies who cares....

The other big thing was he ONLY paid for the lid....... they didnt even charge him for the dyno time....... so that lid turned out cheaper then he thought........
Good #'s Roy add a ported TB and a under drive pulley and you should break 400 with stock heads....

Yeah the whole point of this threaed was to check out the dyno numbers with the new cam and 12-bolt. It was never about comparing the what looks to be VERY STOCK lid on a SLP car with the new lid. Good numbers by the way Roy.
