Thumbs up FMS F13 vs TR224 dyno results inside

Got the car back on the dyno yesterday after installing the F13 cam and SVO 30# injectors. Surprisingly, the initial tune was very close. Only needed a minor tweak in fuel.

Cam spec's are 230/232.7 .596"/.585" 113+4 (I actually installed it 2 degrees retarded though so it's on a 111 icl)

My old numbers with the TR224/114 cam were 415 rwhp / 404 rwtq. I changed the cam, injectors and went from a 2-1/2" ORY to a 3" ORY since then.

New SAE corrected numbers: 439 rwhp / 404 rwtq

This is in full street trim, exactly how I drive it every day (all belts, air filter, 18x10 wheels, 12 bolt, full exhaust, etc).

The thing I'm impressed with the most is that this cam is not that much bigger, it has a slightly lopier idle and the street manners are very close to the old 224 cam. Plus, look how flat the HP peak is. It's making 430 rwhp from like 6000 up to 6900, and I didn't lose hardly any low end either. Simply amazing! Can't wait to get to the track now!

BTW, thanks to Candy and Allan at FMS for your help. FMS / Cam Motion rocks!

Nice gains. Why did you install it 2 degrees retarded?

Very nice gains. Defintly worth making that swap over.

Good luck and have fun

Long story....but my P-V clearance was a little tight with it advanced 4 degrees. Retarding it 2 degrees gave me about .020" more clearance and will make a tad more on the top end anyway. This was the only F13 they had in stock and I had to have it right away so I couldn't wait to have it custom ground on a 113+2 that I originally wanted.

If u picked up 5RW from injectors/3in ORY then the cam was worth 19RW.Thats impressive for sure, add a LSX/90mm TB and it'll go another 15RW.I might try a 232-234 595-598 112+2 in my car this winter over the 224-580 113+2 I have now.

I hope to see these kinds of results.

The LSX/90mm would be nice, but at $1200 for 15 rw, it's just worth it to me. Maybe they'll come down in price later.

Be sure to check your P-V clearance with that cam....I had a 232/.595" 111+2 in it and it didn't fit in my case.

When I was running the F13 I had a 112+2 it was VERY close on the intake on the unmilled LS6 styles and 2.05 valves. I ended up having to flycut when I tried a cam that was 232/230 110+4

See, I'm not crazy. LOL. Everyone told me that 232/.595 XER should fit NO PROBLEM, but it didn't. It's gotta be that the valve seats aren't cut as deep with these heads as some other brands are. Oh well. It was a learning experience and I'm happy now.

There's gotta be something in the valve job that reduces your clearance on those PP heads. My TEA heads are cut .025 and my FM13 fits.....

Great #'s, BTW. Anything over 435 rwhp through a 12 bolt is a STOUT street car

Exactly. When they install new seats and cut the angles in them, they must not cut them very deep.

What is the intake centerline on your cam? Isn't it a 113 lsa / 113 icl? If so, it would fit slightly better than mine even.

Seems as though someone was checking up on me ....j/k

My cam is on a 114 ICL unfortunately. I had to do this because my motor was making insane amounts of cranking compression with my old 110 ICL cam, so I had to raise the ICL to reduce my dynamic compression and/or "bleed off" more compression.

However my lil FM13/114ICL cam makes just as much TQ at 4000 rpm's as any of these big dogs, with 4 degrees higher ICL to boot in most cases...

FMS rocks...

Nice numbers!!
I thought SVO 30# were causing HP # to drop on most cars. I have a set but I read 4 posts about this problem and was starting to second guess my build plans. If anyone has any input on this please share.

I haven't read anything eluding to HP loss with the SVO 30's.

SVO 30#ers wont cause a HP loss unless the tuning for the injectors is off...
