Default Woohoo! Picked up the car tonight! Dyno results and impressions within

Well I went to ARE at 5:00pm this afternoon and we got started tuning the car.

First a rundown of the parts used:

LS1 block bore 3.907
Eagle 4 inch crank and 6.125 rods
Diamond forged pistons
LS6 heads 2.055/1.57 valves 11.5:1 compression
236/240 110LSA cam (Cam spec'd out a little smaller than the 238/242 we ordered)
12 bolt with 3.73s
Heavy Steel DS
Mcleod Rev lok 2 clutch with sintered Iron disc
Steel flywheel
STOCK LS6 intake
STOCK rims/tires at about 25psi
STOCK MAF
STOCK Throttle Body
STOCK Waterpump
Full Belts (NO shortbelt)
Edelbrock 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 headers and full catback exhaust with single 3 inch cutout in intermediate pipe located under rear seat
Racetronix 340 Walbro pump
37# Delphi Injectors
LS1edit tuning

We tuned conservatively (24 degrees WOT timing) for pump gas (93 octane) There was actually some old gas in the tank from last year that we mixed in some new gas with.

Going to redyno with an aggressive race gas tune soon

We also rolled into the throttle where the clutch was brand new (didnt want to glaze it)

Here are the results

462RWHP AT ONLY 6000rpm!! yep the car peaked at 6000rpm!
437.3RWTQ

Torque is over 400 from 3500rpm and up and that is with a roll into the gas. There is definitely 400RWTQ at 3000rpm after the clutch is broken in and we can hammer right off the bat.

Here is the graph (I snapped a pic with my digital camera, I'll get a better pic up soon

I am REALLY happy with these numbers on ARE's dyno. I have seen many "440" RWHP cars come to ARE and dyno in the 390-410rwhp range

The cam is definitely a little undersized but I am EXTREMELY happy with the driveability and power it makes. it BLOWS away my old HC package that ran 11.15@123.Xmph.

The area under the curve is great and the car is a fu@king BEAST to drive!

Anyways I am dead tired fire away with any questions. A race gas tune should yield about 10RWHP more and 15RWTQ. A cam change should bring things up another 15RWHP but I dont think I am going to bother.

I dont think I am going to bother with a cam change. With the 3.73 gears and 6000rpm power peak the car is just AWESOME on the street.

NO dyno tricks whatsoever, full accessories, full exhaust, stock intake, MAF, throttle body, air filter in the car.

THANKS ARE

10s@127+ will be coming this season, hopefully on a DOT tire

Chris

ps- STD numbers were 475RWHP and 455RWTQ I think

grats man thats an awesome setup, I can't believe how fast they put it together, 1 day you had the pics up and the next its done with dyno numbers. Pretty cool that you did it with 0 dyno tricks too.
I'm sure its alot more streetable also with the extra tq.

Thanks guys

See how fast the torque ramps up! That is just with a roll into the gas, not flooring it!

Dyno numbers are nice and all but I want to get this bitch to the track!!

I need to adjust the Mcleod adj master (clutch is a bit high) get the M&H musclecar drags with convo pros and skinnies on the car and get racing!

I am thinking after a bit of breakin driving/ring seal and good clean gas I should pick up another ~8-10RWHP.

As an experiment I am going to see how straight 103 unleaded and more aggressive timing with AF changes work. I'll let you know about that in the next couple of weeks.

Again thanks to ARE for building me such a nice combo.

Brian and the guys were absolutely meticulous with the buildup. I was very very impressed, I worked with them on the buildup the whole way through and it went extremely well.

Feel free to fire away with anymore questions. The added displacement/extra power is a BLAST on the street.

Nice numbers.

Are you thinking about swapping the LS6 for a 90mm LSX/TB ?

I have thought about it but the budget didnt allow it. I really like the TPIS setup over the FAST. They are similar in gains but the TPIS is near OEM in fit and finish/quality...

Down the road will be 85mm MAF and probably a TPIS and 90mm setup.

I like that 400rwtq at 3,500rpm That's a kickass setup with your drivetrain, I can't wait to see how that baby runs at the track!

Btw.. going agressive with the tune and running 103 will REALLY wake up a car that's 11.5:1

Thanks! With a full throttle mash on the dyno 400RWTQ will be had at 3000rpm Area under the curve is good

Congrats Chris!

I'm always excited to see someone get a new motor in the car, nothing like the feeling when you get good results after all the hard work and money spent.

Thanks Joel

As for the A4 numbers I am not sure...I would guess with a locked converter probably in the 450+ RWHP range depending on drivetrain. unlocked torque would be over 500 I would guess.

On my car the 12 bolt and heavy DS and Clutch combo cost me about 18 RWHP compared to the stock drivetrain.

Have the LS6 heads had anything more done than the larger valves installed?

The heads were extensively ported (327cfm at .600 lift on a 3.905 bore)

JS, I am thinking with more miles (ring seal) and fresh gas another 8-10RWHP would be there for sure.

That'd get you in the 455 range imo through an A4 locked
