I thought that one of the magazines tested this cam with other OEM cams (probably with stock heads though). I was thinking it did really well. If I ever do a 6.0 turbo setup with 317 heads I was going with this cam.

There was a test a while back where a bunch of factory cams was tested on a stock LM7 5.3 engine. The LS9 did well in the higher RPM ranges, but lost a lot of torque under 4000RPM or thereabout. There are far better cams for the 5.3 than the LS9, which would do better in a larger engine like a 6.2, which is the original application with a supercharger.

I do, somewhere lol.

Did 250whpish with a 4.8 and 317s, power was still climbing when I let off at 6500. May or may not have been on all 8 cylinders, and chewed up some cam bearings on the way home

And yes, it's like vtec kicked in at 4000to 4500ish

They pick up a Lot of power over peak on a cathedral engine, and some peak to peak.

Problem is that late IVC is really not a good match for a 5.3 due to its compression. You need to raise static compression to get dynamic compression into the 8's or you need boost. If neither is an option, then there are better cams available.

The right cam is cheaper than a cheap cam that you have to keep doing stuff to make work.

Yes, I know but i wanted to see how far back it moves peak with that late IVC to judge where to put something like that on another setup

I think your missing the point of my question somehow LOL. With a small duration very late IVC i wanted to see where it peaked. only peaked at 6300-6400. prob would little later if it had some compression in it. i need it to peak about 1000 rpm later on a setup with even less stroke, but id say the earliest IVC i would want is what a ls7/9 cam is@48 degrees

if that’s what you want yup. With the right intake it’ll carry forever too
