yeah but is it a kick in the butt ir just a stronger pull? from what i had read, and heard, with the cam and longtubes i was expecting a noticable surge in acceleration after 4000.

I have an A4 with a Yank Y3200 so that combined with the cam is like a major kick in the butt.

I really like this set up but I have a few questions. I want a similar idle quality and drivability but I think this cam was designed for stock exhaust manifolds. Since headers add to the scavenging efficeny of the exhaust system and we have seen what reverse split cams can do, what would I need to do in order to duplicate his drivaibilty and idle quality with long tubes and true duals? Would I need to increase the intake or reduce the exhaust or both? How much more hp do you see being realistic with longtubes, duals and tuning? Also what was the peak rpm for the HP?

Thanks,
Bart

If the dealer wanted to he could check the PCM to find out if the volumetric efficiency has changed on the engine. You can bet with a cam change you have done that.

So don't be so confident that its "undetectable" when you take it to the dealer.

I read through this last night, and it still doesn't look like anyone's brought this up. Looking at the split between intake and exhaust duration, and throwing the very wide LSA into the equation, does this ('02 LS6 cam) not look like a perfect N2O cam?

Not only do you get the nice, stock idle quality, and the benefits of increased N/A power, but because of the duration split heavily favoring the exhaust event, and the extreme lack of overlap, this cam would be an ideal nitrous or blower cam. Plus, it's cheap.
Hmmmmmm............! Very,very, interesting!

Hmmmmmm, this thread is now 7 years old. I am wondering if people are still making 350rwhp the the ls6 cam on a stock ls1 with an aftermarket cat-back exhaust? It just sound too good to be true to me.

Default LS6 cam spec

My car is a 2002 A4 Camaro SS with the SLP "345 HP package". It has SLP's lid (which was shown to be a POS) and the centermount exhaust. I dyno'd it bone stock with 722 miles on it and it put down 311.8/320.8. I switched just the lid (from SLP to a direct flo) and it put down 319.9/329.4. That was 7 days ago. Since then, the only mod done was the '02 LS6 cam swap. I finished it this morning and took it over to the dyno this afternoon. Air temp was almost identical and the Barom. pressure for the stock runs were 30.32, and today they were 29.92.

It put down 352.6RWHP at 6200 RPM and was still climbing slightly (stock rev limiter), and 343.7 RWTQ at 4800 RPM. So with just adding the '02 LS6 cam, I gained 32.7 RWHP and 14.3 RWTQ.

This is through an automatic, stock manifolds and stock cats, my 18" HRE's, and no dyno tricks. Tomorrow I'm having an off road y-pipe made and I'll be putting my TR ported TB on and re-dynoing tomorrow afternoon. I will post the dyno graphs in a few days (when I have a friend do it for me).

So, my car sounds dead stock, looks dead stock and makes 350+ RWHP through an automatic I am very pleased with the results!
what the spec for the cam ?
thanks

I still do not know HOW this is possible with this cam unless the dyno was very happy that day. I have a 2002 z28 with JBA shorties, Magnaflow high-flow replacement cats, SLP Y-pipe and a 3" Magnaflow cat-back out. I also have that SLP high flow air filter/scoup which brings in the air just behind the from grill. The previous owner hit a rain puddle just right and sucked just enough water in to throw a rod out the side of the block. The car now has a crate LS6 with a tune after all of the above. Mine will not even put down 350rwhp......I am thinking and I have the complete engine and not only the cam. I am basing this assumption on what others have said........which is......basically my setup might be around 330-340 on a good day. I have however never had it dyno'd. Maybe it is actually putting down more, but I do now know....only dream.....lol..

Fellow with an 04 GTO had a replacement LS6 installed under warranty a few years ago. Dynoed 344/339. Stock LS6 with no other parts IIRC. So it had the 243 with lightweight exhaust valves.

I installed a set of 243's and ls6 cam in my friends 01 ss with the only other mods being a k&n in the stock airbox , factory slp powerflo exhaust and he used a hypertec only to raise the limiter. Before the swap on the street his car was dead even with my ws6 (lid, catback) which made 335/350 and ran 13.0-13.1 on street tires. His SS has run 12.50 on bfg kdw's, not bad considering it gets 18-19 mpg around town and 25-28 on the highway and he even drove it cross country, i'm lucky if I make it to the next gas station
