Default 520rwhp N/A stock bottom LS1....

Thought I'd share my stock bottom LS1 (6) results. Been together several years and moving on now. So decided to share it...will give me something to look back at and remember the fun and aggravation I went through.

04Z
38K stock bottom
Modified Vararam
NW 102TB
Fast 102 (massaged by Tooley)
Deka 80lbers
TEA 243's (hand finished by Brian)
Stock rockers with trunnion upgrade
NGK TR6
Trend 3/8" 0.080" wall single piece pushrods
0.027" cometic
Cam = EPS 23x/25x 63x/61× on a 11x (very stable lobes)
Comp drop in short travel lifters (set at 0.010" cold)
Moroso vacuum pump (7" at idle/ 21" at max rpm)
Mezerie elec water pump
LG 1 7/8" super pros

Would usually shift somewhere around 7700rpm

Car had a massaged T56, RXT/ Fidanza and 4.10 gear

I'm sure I have forgotten something... lol

Car would trap 132+ in crappy +1000' DA @ 3000lbs-ish

Be happy to answer any questions or comments...

Here is one of many dyno graphs...made roughly 520/440

Here's a tech question.....sbe LS1, 243s, cam is 230 234, .600 .602 111lsa, pacesetter coated long tubes, 6 speed.....with the LS1 intake the car made 365 365, which I think is low, I was expecting close to 400.....how much gain will I see from an LS6 intake? I'm swapping it out this weekend and taking it back to dyno.

hmmm....lots if variables there...same day swap would produce more valid data.
But to answer your question....I would say 5rwhp and 5rwtq would be my guess as an average power increase (You could possibly see 10-15hp in specific rpm areas). Also expect your peak rpms to move up 200-ish rpm.
Example...if your 365rwhp peaked at 6200 and your 365rwtq peaked at 5100....expect the new hp peak to be 6400rpm and tq peak to be 5300rpm due to the slight differences in runner and plenum design between the two manifolds.

And there is a whole rabbit hole of discussions on how rpm gain can be beneficial.

Great results!

I have an 02 Z, and questions.

Which model of Fast 102? And did you need to change anything to get it to fit under the hood?

What valve springs did you go with?

Did you have any trouble getting the 1 7/8 headers to fit?

Thanks!

From what I read....I bet your right. The combo has been together well before the MSD manifold was available.

And I'm going a different route with the power now...probably never get to try it out.

Thanks..

The Fast LSXR was the model I have. And on my car it was an extremely tight fit. Had to shave a few plastic cowl clips.

I run BTR .660 spring with his Ti retainer kit. Great spring kit IMO.

The LG 1 7/8" headers fit great....just take your time and hold your tongue right !!
lol...

Thanks...

Thanks for the info! Are you running stock-height motor mounts, or shorter ones for more manifold clearance?

But I will say, if you have a chance to put a set of lower motor mounts on...do it !!

Also, some guys will shim the cradle....which comes with it's own warnings !!

Thanks...

More questions...

How are you driving the vacuum pump? I was thinking about a pulley in front of the crank damper / main pulley, but the steering rack is pretty close.

Also, what valve springs are you using?

Thanks again!

I built a custom vacuum pump crank pulley...its very close. Have to install it with the rack off....

Theres just enough room to slide a belt on and off.

Springs are BTR .660 with his Ti retainers...great kit from my personal experience. Zero issues up to 7700-ish...maybe closer to 8k..lol

But...I do pay attention to my valvetrain weight, rocker fulcum weight and preload !!!

Thanks...

D'oh, I just realized that I asked twice about the springs. Thanks for humoring me.

Lol...no worries

Also, I'm a big fan of shimming the springs to proper height of coil bind.

IMO, builds like this are all about attention to detail.

Thanks...
