i was told it was a pullout from a 2011 gm truck that had ~160k miles. i pulled the heads to put my ported 243's on it and trimmed the truck windage tray to fit an f body pan. i didn't touch the SBE. rings and rod bolts are original. i have a little over 4k abusive miles on the build.

Good numbers! I’m looking for around 800wheel (900 if I can) out of my 4.8l Silverado build. 180k SBE 4.8l BTR stage one Turbo cam ported/ big valve 706 heads, TBSS intake, Trick turbo kit, VSR 7875 billet with gen 3 85mm race cover upgrade. Had it on the dyno once last year and it maxed my single fuel pump around 13psi at 630 wheel. E70 content.

This year it got a Holley terminator Xmax ecu a second fuel pump, bigger injectors and some methanol injection for extra insurance. Unsure what it will do…

any reason you stopped at 17psi?

thanks man. sounds like you have a nice setup as well. had it street tuned on 20psi. the dyno just didn't load it up like the street did. it was the car's decision to stop @ 17psi not mine

Awesome. Out of curiosity how is the T56 holding up and what clutch you running?

Monster stage 3 clutch. If I had to guess, ~8k miles on the clutch, ~5-6k of those miles with the turbo. T56 is holding up thus far... more concerned about the stock driveshaft and 10 bolt which are also holding up ... for now.

Solid numbers...timing seems ultra conservative for the compression and fuel.

How much boost and whp wtq can a stock 5.3 4.8 longblock handle from 01-06 without blowing a headgasket or having the engine damaged long term?

Depends on the tune. 800-1000 wheel hp has been done reliably with E85.

strong opinion here: you're not going to get the information you need from a direct answer to your question - it's too basic.

the more cylinder pressure you make, the more stress you're putting on the motor and the higher the chances of failure. you'll get answers to this question based on what others have done or seen, but you're not getting an accurate description of their setup whether that be fuel type, timing curve, boost curve, their definition of a "stock longblock" or "reliable", weight of vehicle, dragstrip vs overdrive hwy vs dyno pulls in mexico, etc, etc. it's all relevant.

seemingly this is going to be a budget build because you're wanting to push a stock longblock to it's limits. if you're paying someone to build the car for you, my suggestion would be for you to find out who you want to build it and, if you're there, talk directly to them about your budget and your goals. if you're going to build the car, i'd suggest you start a thread and provide information on your setup, your goals, and your budget with as many details as possible so you can get better guidance on your build from people that have already been down that path.
