Those are solid numbers. Interesting to see what it runs with this setup. Where are you at in NC?

Oh ok. I live on the coast in NC. Either way, keep us updated when you run the car again. I want to run mine at VGMP when I’m done.

What makes it not cam only? Cam only means it's a SBE and stock heads.

I mean there is a cam only list... its a saying everyone has, you would be dumb to think a "cam only" would make over 400 with headers and etc.

They're all wrapped under the term cam only. Come on guys. Nobody thinks cam only literally means the cam was changed. By that logic you couldn't do pushrods or valvesprings. Cam only literally means boltons plus a cam, no heads or or bottom end work and its always NA. This is the generally accepted definition for decades.

I did 🙂 … but I’m an engineer, and we tend to operate under the assumption that words have actual meanings.

The 376/480 crate motor I bought from GM was “cam only” … it had a GMPP Hotcam in place of the stock LS3 cam. So there’s an example of a cam only (by my definition anyway) engine in the real world.

I’d say this engine wasn’t cam only, but cam + boltons. Doesn’t matter, I’ll know to clarify in the future since some of you are playing fast and loose with the language 🤣🤣🤣

I'm with you. Words mean things. Or at least they should. "Cam Only" excludes all else.

Then from an Engineering Manager to an Engineer....try to use common sense too 😆. No one on the cam only list is explicitly cam only. Its just the phrase used that is generally understood the only internal mod is the camshaft and valvetrain. When you installed that crate motor, did you use factory exhaust manifolds and factory air intake? If you didn't then you're still cam only 🫠

“Cam only” means EVERYTHING except heads. Silly term isn’t it?
It made 417 with an LS6 intake and stock cam or was the 417 part of the cam only as well?
