Even the manufacturers volume level can cause a hp loss. That was surprising.

You do realize that all of these episodes you are posting have been available for years, right? I don't know why they all seem to have been recently reposted by other channels on youtube.

Yeah but people surfing forums might not know this information. Also, conventional wisdom used to be to add an extra half quart to keep it in the pan. But that might actually cause more oil pressure loss unless the oil is too slow returning to the pan.

Yea but that's not an LS motor so we don't care! Also most would rather have a little power loss than a oil pressure loss on a hard launch. Don't see that on a dyno.

I did back to back to back starting at 5qts and working up to 8.5qts. Saw zero changes in ET/MPH. But I did spit oil out the breather eventually. I don't think windage is as much of a deal on the LS for some reason. Maybe the baffle under the crank? I did notice that at 7.5qts or so my oil pressure stopped dipping so hard at the launch. (fbody pan with a baffle kit and scarper it.) I generally run 1.5-2qts over full on all my stuff.

Watch the video I just posted. That one is an LS engine.

Will do, but regardless... I saw no difference in real world practice on my setup. Many others have verified this as well. Super common place to run 1-2qts over full on a hard launching LS of any kind. If it doesn't translate in to an et or mph gain I'll stick to not losing oil pressure on the launch. If you have a means to control that, no reason to over fill.
