Default Are My JBAs Killing Me

I dynoed today and was very dissapointed.322rwhp/320rwt@5250.Never fell off 322 even at 6800.I had to put my stock air box on because my tube broke on CAI.My A/F ratio got a little fat at 4000,around 11.9 and came up to about 12.00 at 6000 and above. Is the stock airbox and the fat ratio enough for these crappy numbers or are the JBAs killing me.Mod in sig,any input would be great.

I think so. I bet you would see about +30rwhp with a good set of long tubes and off road pipes.

You think the lack of CAI hurts as much?I was trying to be realistic hoping for about 350 RWHP but those #s made me depressed

not sure about the GTO's intake maybe 10rwhp? If you still have cats, those are hurting you as well. Also how many miles on the car? If low mileage, it may still have some breaking in to do.Oh yeah, some tuning would also help . Advance the timing a little maybe and get rid of that rich condition.

4300 miles. The IAT at regular driving and even on the highway is a minimum of 91-113 degrees on a normal 70-80-degree day.I have advanced the timing by 4 deg.up top already .The reverse split if the stealth II really needs free flow I guess.I guess I just have to chill out and go one step at a time.CAI fabrication 1st,More timing work 2nd,and some PE tuning 3rd and then see where the #s fall.If they still suck I guess LTs.The only problem with LTs on the GTO is they are about 1/2"-3/4" away from the steering rack boot.I just don't want to do a rack every 10,000 miles.

I think I gained a little over 20rwhp with LTs, duals, and tuning over
JBAs, stock Y, and Flowmaster.
I dont think you really loose that much with JBAs on a bolt on car, maybe 10rwhp
vs LTs.

I think the lack of CAI/shorties are keeping you back from about 40-50 rwhp. I see a lot of sponsers making intake system for the GTO, so I am guessing that it is restrictive.

Hey bone, gtodoug here over in ls1gto. I don't think it's the shorties killing your hp. The LT's will definately help, I'll find out soon enough and post new graphs. Mine should be here by the weekend. My best pull to date is 422whp 391wtq. However, You are still running the stock cats/resonator pipes. Those things only measure about 1.75" IIRC. I got the random tech replacements. The reverse split really does like a really free flowing exhaust. I'm running a 234/228 and I thought the stock exhaust was good enought to do the job. Man was I ever wrong. I switched it out a for SLP system and between that and an ASP pulley picked up 30whp and up to 50ftlb of tq in some areas of the powerband. Look at the dyno chart below. This is what convinced me to change out the shorties for LT's. The intake is hurting but not to the point where you are down on so much power. It's probably robbing you fo 10-12rwhp though. Focus on exhaust work.
