Hello All,
We at Race-Prep are new to LS1 tech as supporting advertisers and would like to say this is definatly the best web site there is for the gen III engine and its vehicles.

We would like to say we have been working with the LS1/6 engine for over 5 years now and are finally starting to do a little advertising for our company. We have just got the results from initial dynotesting of our new 434ci Darton sleeved Big-Bore engine package. The first session produced what we thought to be extremely good numbers for a 91 octane daily street driven package. The engine is installed in a C5 automatic with only a 2800 stall and peaked at 530hp and over 520lbft of torque at the wheels. The real kicker was when we looked at the curve itself, this thing makes over 500whp from approx. 4000 RPM all the way to 6800. The curve is flat as a board! We attest this to our own custom lobe design with over .650" lift on a duration as small as 236 degrees at .050"!! This along with our 6.0l heads that flow 340+CFM with only 218cc runner volume and extremely high velocity (around 500fps). We are planning on upgrading the headers and exhaust as they are very restrictive pieces (antique 1 3/4" headers with 2 1/2" collectors and 2 1/2" exhaust, not to mention the MAF is only 80mm and could stand being bigger for this displacement. All in all I think we will be able to meet our near 600whp goal for this engine on 91 octane and being totally streetable.
We will keep you posted on other HI-PO projects in the works such as a 451ci carbureted LS1/6 for a $250,000.00 Trophy Truck, and numerous other street machines including our own 2000 SS Camaro that is in the works to be the first CA emissions compliant N/A combination to make over 550whp.

Thank you all for the kind words. For those interested, this package starts at about 23,000.00 less installation and works up from there depending on components choice and options. The cam grind is also available, which is our proprietary HYDRAULIC grind of 23*/24* @ .050" with .664"/.651" lift on a 112 LSA. This cam produced an extremely FLAT power curve that made over 530rwhp and pulled HARD all the way to 6800+RPM in this engine. This would make an exellent cam in a street driven vehicle with moderate displacement and mods. It was kept small for drveability in this application but would prove to be a great high-po cam in a street machine, pricing on our Extreme Lift cams is $435.00 and there are many other lobes to choose from in our list as well. I will be posting more info on the engine as well as other projects as soon as I can. I need to get the dyno sheet scanned so I can post it so it is coming!

We are using the smaller FAST intake with our own slight modification which improved flow 10cfm across the board and a BBK throttle body, but I must say I don't like the way the "adapter plate" works and we are planning an upgrade to the upper plenum to allow the full benefit of the larger throttle body as well.

Why didn't you use the FAST 90mm with the 90mm TB? Don't you think you can gain some power going that route? What size primaries are you going to use with the new headers? Wouldn't a 1 7/8 into 2" stepped header be the best for that large of an ls1? How about a true 3" dual exhaust with cats for Ca? Then you will be right at 600 or just under RWHP. Is this motor in your 2000 ss?

Actually, the owner of the car already had the throttle body and didn't want to make the changeover just yet, I feel there is definetly some power to be had by either working on what we have or going the 90mm route, also the 90mm was not yet available when we put it together. As for the exhaust, we acutally are considering something like prostock is using, a "TRI-Y" style using a 1 7/8" stepped to 2" primary utilizing a merge collector at each junction, dumping int at least 3" mabe oval tubing equal to 3 1/2" out back, but it is still in the works and most likely a little way out. Actually, it is in a 99' C5 vette A4. Can't wait to get some more mods done and get back on the dyno, but the customer actually wants to ENJOY driving it!!
