N/A FMS 408ci Dyno & Video....577 RWHP!!!
Just got the car back home this weekend, I took her out to Futral Motorsports for some final tuning. In case some of you don't know I had Allan build me a budget 408 motor so I can run NHRA Super Gas and play around in the LS1tech Pro Stock class if I wanted to. What I did was took the heads and FAST intake off my 346 and sent them to Allan. He put together a 408 with a 6.0l iron block, eagle rods and a good stroker crank. I also sold my 1-3/4" headers and stepped up to Kooks 1-7/8" stepped to 2" headers. I needed the 1-7/8" for my 346 anyway. Anyway needless to say I am blown away by how insane this new motor is. Wait till you see the video of it idling..it will give you chills..This is the same setup I ran at the Thunder Racing Southern Shootout, but it wasn't fully tuned and I was still running a MAF, I won 1st in MS and 2nd in PS. Allan tuned the car now in speed density mode, what a difference in the drivability!! The car idles at 1000 rmp!!
To fill you heres a list of my car's setup:
2002 Camaro SS
Stock-Type Suspsension Setup
FMS 408ci Solid Roller
-6.0 Iron Block
-Callies Crank
-Eagle Rods
-Custom Diamond Nitrous Pistons 14+ CR
-LS6 Heads with 2.08/1.60 Valves
-Custom FMS GODZILLA CAM 275/286 .793/.793 108 lsa
-Fast Intake w/ 90mm TB
-Kooks 1-7/8" to 2" Stepped with 3.5" collector
-Mezier Electric Water Pump
-42 lb Injectors
JW TH400 Transmission
TCI 8" 5500 Stall Converter
4" Steel Driveshaft
Moser 12 Bolt with 4.56 gears
30" x 10.5" Slicks
I run C16 in the car ofcourse
Allan kept the tune on the conservative side since I bracket race every other weekend, he has some tunes set aside for when I will be racing heads up at like LS1tech series etc. Anyway here's the dyno graph of were he left my bracket racing tune:
577 RWHP 472 RWTQ
This motor would easily blast into the 600+ RWHP with a 6 speed etc. Looking at my heavy duty drive train parts and say taking even a 20% DT loss that makes the motor a 730+ FWHP motor..uh..HOLY COW.
I am extremely please with the power this motor is putting out. So far I've only gone 9.79 on motor with Castrol break-in oil and at 3370 lbs! LOL.. I'm hoping when everything is broken in and I can find some more weight to take out, I would like to have a solid 9.50 ET bracket car and to also give the PS class a run at the money.
Here's a link to a short video I made of the car idling:
FMS 408 idling Video (8mb)
Honestly the camera just cannot capture what this motor is like in person. You can feel cam loping in your chest. I had all the motor heads on my block asking me if I put a 555ci BBC in my car LOL...
Chaulk up another badass FMS motor built.
Lee
PS..JOE OVERTON!! I'm coming for ya! hehe
