This is a great thread and this is going to become the next big thing because eventualy most people get sick of the loud exhaust and big cams.
I know I have.
Also, this whole thread reminds me when tony was talking about small ports with high volocity(sp?).HMMMMMM!
Maybe he does know something.

Give credit where's it's due-Patrick's been researching this for a long time. I mean isn't he the one that originally got together with Thunder to make the "old man cam"? Patrick must have hundreds of hours of 'should I or shouldn't I" into this. I bet alot people probably scoffed at his plan-but he stuck with it and we all benefit-that's the great thing about these forums. I can't wait to hear how much power he makes with the 90/90 combo!

hopefully the shorty's will show up some time next week-I'll put them on over the weekend then dyno the following week. i'm going to the track tomorrow too. It's going to be hot but i'm hoping i can dip into the 11's on my radials at around 122. I just got a dynotune wet kit too-that's going to be my "equalizer" for the faster cars.

My car got quieter after putting the JBA's on they have the heaviest guage steel. They were quieter than the manifolds! They also flow pretty dam good to make 415/403. I like the fact that I can swap cats pretty easily with the mufflex test pipes. If noise is a main concern you cannot go wrong with JBA's.

I'm not sure when i'm doing the cam-maybe the end of summer or over the winter. I just got my BBK shorty's and i'll be installing them over the weekend and then redynoing-I'm hoping to pick up another 10 rwhp. I'm waiting for PatrickG's 90/90 results and if it looks good i'll be doing that too. I wish I new about the cheaTR cam before I stuck my LS6 cam in there-it's such a pain moving that steering rack! But just think guys-with the right parts 420+rwhp can be achieved with no loss in driveabilty.

I wish it were sooner, but it will probably not be until late July or early August before I install the 90/90. I'm adding larger injectors and fuel pump too because the 28.8lb injectors are running 90-100% duty cycle at WOT and my pump can't handle much of a nitrous shot on top of that (wet shot currently). Those items won't add any power, but they'll give me lots of headroom to grow in the future. I'm still waiting on Hinson Supercars to CNC port some exhaust manifolds for me. Take a look at the F-body manifolds and tell me if you think that shorties would be much of an improvement. I don't think they look that bad.

Vortech u can buy a 2 piece timing cover from Nasty Performance for $275
My buddy made them for Nate,it makes changing cams on a Corvette much easier since u dont need to pull the balancer or drop the rack
I'm doing my cam change as we speak, thers no petcock on the GTO rad...
Weird,u need to undo the lower hose....
I've got the rockers off,pr out,tb off and rad drained...I still need t opull the balacer,wp and front cover, then I can start doing the 918's and 772's tomorrow....
Shorties will go on this week too...

I sorta question how much of a gain you'll see over the Z06 manifold going to shorties.
I can see a gain going from stock C5 manifolds to shorties though. I'm wondering if some of the gains were as a result of shorty headers + exhaust + tuning. I haven't seen anyone who just did shorties (and nothing else) on a Z06 pick up much at all.
I don't remember if it was the Nasty two piece cover (which is a stock cover that has been cut and has a mating surface welded on) or if it was an aftermarket cover. But awhile back someone was doing a 2 pc cover and had issues with double row chains hitting. This isn't the one with issues is it?

JS I talked to Nate over the winter and was going to get one-then I passed on it. After seeing the new Z06 I was helll bent on stopping all the mods and getting that. I had a G5X3 all lined up to go in but figured I would never be able to tune the car to pass emissions-they test the car on rollers at idle and cruise. Then I saw Patrick G's results and said hey let's see. I still may do that 2 piece-it looks like I'll be stuck with this car longer than I hoped for-especially after hearing about the 650hp Vette.

We never tried the double chain with my buddies cover (sold threw Nasty Performance),its a 2 piece modified stock cover so it might work but truthfully I dont know if the double chain will work...
The Jwiss is more than adaquate...
I believe QTP billet cover will not clear a double chain but I could be wrong.
Here's the link for the 2 piece modified stock cover, its a nice piece and my buddy has run one for 5K MILES WITH NO problems...www.nastyperformance.com

I'm looking at it 2 ways Jrod, even if I can pick up a solid 5 rwhp I'll be happy considering how much i paid from them(used), 2nd the should help keep underhood temps down ceramic coated and save some weight. We'll see-I'll post results either way-i just hope i don't lose any power!

I put the BBK headers on last night. The car doesn't have that "tini" sound but the valvtrain noise is alot louder. SOTP , I can't feel anyhting-I mean 10 horse-who's going to feel that? Hopefully I can get to the dyno at the end of week and see the results.
#78
My butt dyno can feel 1 rwhp! I wish you'd done the G5X3 as I'm looking real hard at swapping in that cam. Possibly the Cartek 2x cam...any thoughts?

The G5X3 and AFR's milled .040 with a good header like LG's long tubes has proven to make 460+ at the wheels. That is exactly what I was going to do but changed my mind since my car had to pass emisions. Plus my car is a daily driver and while I love a car that goes lump, lump it just isn't what i want as a daily driver. I think that the G5X3 is better suited to AFR's new 225 heads. I actually had to reduce my RAF, IAC tables by 10% as the AFR heads with the LS6 have so much low speed velocity that the idle would hang at every stoplight for a second.

Wow, those would be some nice numbers. I think the Cartek "LX" cam might be a tad less lumpy on the lift side and along the same lines, the "H" cam would be all-together a tad less lumpy on both lift and duration.
