Default FAST 90/90 gains 27 rwhp on small cammed 346!

Well it was time to take the CheaTR package to an even higher level. After seeing a pretty strong vacuum signal at WOT, I knew the motor was intake restricted. After seeing his success with his C5, I contacted Tony Mamo from Airflow Research to help me with my increased appetite for air. Tony velocity ported a FAST 90mm intake manifold for me and I recently had it installed at Thunder Racing. Also added were a Nick Williams 90mm throttle body, Racetronix Plug and Plug fuel system and Racetronix 37lb. injectors (because my previous fuel system was maxed out).

Wednesday evening, we re-baselined my car. I was a little disappointed that it was down about 10 rwhp from when I last dynoed in April. Maybe the warm muggy August air had something to do with it being a little low. Regardless, the results of the Mamofied FAST 90/90 combination were ASTOUNDING. Check out this dyno:

That's a gain of around 27 rwhp! With stock exhaust manifolds and cats? The gains were incredible. Even at 2500 rpm, we were up around 10 rwtq. Peak torque increased 20. Everybody told me I was wasting my time adding a FAST 90/90 to a car running a 215 @ .050 cam. For me, it was money well spent. Don't know how much the Tony Mamo porting was worth, but I have to believe it was worth a significant part of the gain. Hats off to Shane and Stu from Thunder Racing for the beautiful install work and kudos to Geoff and Angie for the tuning help and support.

Kooks headers and catted y-pipe are next. Any predictions on gains?

Two reasons:
1) I hate leaving power on the table.
2) I have to know how much headers are worth with this setup.

If the gains aren't there, I can always go back.

Im betting withinn a year this car will have a mega cam in it. You have too much money and you are getting too good of results to stop. The power trip is gonna get the best of you.

You have more restraint than I do, know that.

No, that dyno was done with AFR 205 heads. But, I was also running factory exhaust manifolds, cats and catback (no cutout). Pretty good power for a total sleeper. The FAST 90/90 gains were phenomenal, especially considering the small 215/230 117LSA cam I was running at the time.

Because I'm always up for trying something new. I'm trying to make my current combination as docile as possible. It's been a lot of fun.

Wow, great gains for a stock 346! No heads on this motor? I am leaning towards the FAST intake every day.

Check post #12...

AFR 205's, baby cam (TOTALLY stealth), and a ported FAST intake yeilded the results above. Pat has since stepped up the cam and his new numbers are reflected in his sig, but a birdie tells me he is currently playing with his tune to yield even better results with the same combination....

Stay tuned for more on this car....I'm thinking it's barely scratching the surface of the numbers you will see in a year or two

I'll get right on it as soon as I finish the video on how to port your own heads...a $900 intake is turned into a pile of useless plastic pretty quickly
with the wrong stroke of the grinder.

cute

I've got my LSx apart right now, looks pretty obvious as to what will need to be done. But I will certainly be 'taking it easy' on what I'll be doing. Easier to make it perform worse then it will be to make it any better.
