Arrow My TSP Magic Stick Dyno Results!

Your thoughts?

1998 Camaro SS M6 car

Mods (when dyno'd) are as follows:
  • TSP Magic Stick v3 Cam (237/242, .603"/.609", 113 LSA)
  • 7.4 hardened pushrods
  • PRC Dual Valve Spring Kit
  • Rollmaster Double Roller timing chain
  • Ported Ls6 oil pump
  • Pacesetter coated longtubes
  • !EGR, !AIR
  • Lid, K&N, Smooth Bellows
  • 12" bullet mufflers slid onto the headers and dumped

The car with lid, K&N, and Magnaflow catback made 307hp/321tq. Keep in mind that I still have the stock LS1 intake on (With EGR now blocked off), stock as a rock heads, stock TB and pulley, etc. The car is still turning the now dead Smog pump.

I want to hit 400whp on the stock heads. An LS6 intake & ported TB are definitely on the plate next... Any suggestions?

The TSP True Dual setup with 18" bullets is on backorder but I already have a set ordered - they'll be going on the car soon as well.

And I'd like to add that Jeff Creech @ Carolina Auto Masters did an amazing job on the tune and I had a wonderful experience with him.

Tick Performance in Mount Airy, NC did the install, and they did a spectacular job as well.

Hmm...???

Dyno seems to be breaking up at the high rpms. How much timing are you running up in those ranges.

ALSO, the mods will probably lock this thread. You are not allowed to "link" none vendors in post...

You can have too much timing... Look at my dyno-graph (in sig.). The 443hp pull was with 30 degrees of timing and the 450hp pull was with 28 degrees.

Valve-float usually shows more of a drop in the graph... I do not think that is your issue.

good luck,

get an LS6 or LSX and pick up the rest of that HP! I ran a cam only wih LS1 and when i swapped to the LS6..WOW! I dont have any solid numbers to back that up, but felt like a solid 10whp.

Definitely going LS6 intake for the next mod. Can't afford the Fast 90/90 setup as of now, unfortunately...

wow I made the same with a very little cam. In a a4 gto with a very loose converter you should have your tune looked at somewhere else.

115.XX MPH seems low for a true 380+ RWHP at that weight. Is that corrected or an uncorrected ET and trap?

I guess the clutch was slipping very badly?

your sig shows 365 hp. I'm confused.

Thats 17 less then what he dynoed. Also, is your 114 MPH trap N/A or on spray? If your making 365 on motor and spraying anything more then a 50 shot and running sub 115 MPH I question your dyno numbers....

Also, your convertor was locked on the dyno otherwise your torque number would be skewed a lot higher then it is hence whether your convertor is tight or loose is meaningless....

good luck,
Agreed. Timing past 27 degrees or so does nothing for these cars....

Not necessarily, mine's always done it's best w/ 30-31 degrees But for the most part, I would agree! Most cars I've messed with don't like THAT aggressive timing.

This could be completely wrong, I'm no tuner but it always seemed like the LS1 cars with slightly less timing maintained more of their performance in the heat. The car that were tuned closer to the edge at 30-31 degrees had more issues running in the warmer weather, they were down more power etc....

Put a intake on it,Move the bullets off the headers and add a few (10 inches) of pipe into a X and then into the bullets and then dump...Get a PTB and a Pulley and I bet those mods will get u to 400RW.....

Then stand on it

I was just saying I'm not too far off with a auto car. Yes That was my real horsepower numbers. Yes my track times suck..... I don't know what is with my car other than a bad day for racing the only time since stock i've had my car at the track. My 05 was running 14.2's that day and my 04 did much better than that stock.

Ok, in your earlier post you mentioned you put down the same power, but its actually down 17 RWHP. Thats a sizable difference especially given the fact our GTOs have the LS6 intake. We both agree of course the A4 sucks up more power then the manual. I'm not sure what to make of the losses from the IRS.

Your '05 will run fine when it gets cooler, don't worry about it. Its just in this warmer weather this pig heavy GTOs run like ****....

So does my 04 thats why I'm putting the magic stick in that. I think the heat was affecting that as well. I'm hoping to get close to 400 with the cam change. And I'm spraying 100 on that car so i should be running a lot faster but the goats are pigs.

Its corrected.

Clutch was bad. Prolly saved my *** though.
Had to granny shift, launch light, etc.

3 days after textrellia clutch break in, broke my rear.
I planned on high 12's @ 110 at 6000 feet with the new clutch.........
(or 11.9 @ 118 give or take corrected)
My race weight 3450 was without me so + 170
