20 rwhp from cutout
When I dyno tuned my car we used a wide band, of course so I had the cutout closed. From the 1st to the 4th dyno pulls, I went from 376rwhp to 392. On the 5th pull, I only gained one more horsepower so we figured that was all she had in her. We took off the wide band and opened the cutout. I was hoping for 7 horses so I could hit that magical 400rwhp. To everyone's surprise, I went from 393rwhp and 374rwtq to 413rwhp and 394rwtq. 20 horses and 20 ft lbs!!! None of us had ever seen gains like that from a cutout. I eliminated the cutout and am now running a bullet.
Has anyone else seen these kinds of gains from a cutout?

Mods listed in my signature. I'm running the Hooker long tubes and ORY. All ceramic coated. With the cutout closed, the exhaust was running through a Flowmaster muffler and stock tips.

If any shop ever recommends Flow/Slowmaster for an F-Body, turn around and walk away. They sound good, but eat up power like a champ.

I understand that Flowmaster kinda sucks but I was still surprised to see the 20 horses.
I'll post up some dyno numbers with the Borla bullet but it won't be for another couple of months.

I have the Edelbrock catback and with a cutout I gain 24 hp. The last time i went through the muffler was back when it was at 420/405 cutout and 396/392 through the muffler.
Exhaust sounds to good to change though , I just need to quit being tight and get an Electric cutout opener.

^^ search / look in the external engine section. There is an endless amount of info on that topic. Word on the boards is GMMG is the best Y set up possible and some even pick it over true duals.

OK Let me jump in here too. I dynoed 310 hp and 340 tq with a Flowmaster muffler on my car. Same dyno diff day, only diff. being a 3 inch Y-Pipe and 3 inch cutout and I dynoed 332 hp & 340 Tq. That's a 22 hp diff and same Tq with a cutout and 3 inch Y-Pipe........CHOKEMASTER IT IS
