Todays Dyno Results

Todays Dyno Results
While home on leave to tampa I had Rev-Extreme to do my dyno. By no means am i impressed with the results. The car dyno'ed 398 rwhp back in late 2004 at TSP with the converter locked. The tuner mentioned the tune was turned back alittle. The A/F was turned lean. The overall tune seemed ugly. They wanted $399.95 to tune it with "HP Tune". The only time it hit 12.86 was when they locked the converter. All other pulls were in the 13's for A/F. The shop certified it a mid 11 second car.

i dont possess the ability to scan right now. all the high tech **** is at the base. im home on leave right now. the old dyno at TSP was done in late 2004 i believe. i would have to look at the dyno sheet when i get back to know for sure. This time it was in Florida hot summer 101.03 degrees with 12% humidity. I know the a/f chart is ugly as hell when zoom in on it, its no where close to smooth. The tuner at Rev-Extreme was telling me that alot of places will tune a car for max results on the dyno then de-tune alittle for streetabilty and reliability when they let the customer take it. I'm not paying $399-$499 to have my car re-when it costs $499 to buy the HP Tuner and all the **** with it.

Well I guess I need to put out the money and re-tune the car. It's been 2yrs since the engine was assembled/tuned/dynoed. Shitty thing is i'm trying to get rid of the car so im not really interested in dumping more money into it.

I know you from DFWStangs & those are pretty good numbers I think for your car, You have to keep in mind that it's a A4 & your losing alot of hp in the trans & converter, On a 6spd car with those dyno numbers would be 15% loss & Auto are 20% if not more through a big converter, if you add the 8% drivetrain loss over the 6spd to 379RWHP it would be 409 RWHP, Which I know alot of 6dps cars that run 12.0s at high 120 traps. Where as your car would do mid 11s all day because you can put all that power to the ground. You have a stout car man.
Yeah you could always have more. But for your mods that is about right,I have a 2000 that I am sure you have seen & it put down 389 RWHP on Motor 349 on TQ through a Built stage II 4L60E with a Yank converter. My setup is the same as yours pretty much! So you are on par for the course by judging it from mine.

you put down 389 with the converter locked right? I guess the only concern is I have dyno sheets from TSP that show 388/398 rwhp runs with the converter locked from back in late 2004 when the engine was finished. I know i need a re-tune cause the car wont idle in the mornings and the a/f was lean on the dyno. Does anyone cut good deals for dyno work?

sorry to mislead you on the post 388/398 the first run was 388 rwhp and the 2nd run was 398rwhp after TSP tuned it some more. This was back in late 2004 like i said. Those numbers were thru full exhuast with a stock Cat-Back Exhuast system When i say stock i mean stock 1998 Formula Cat-back. The only different was the 3inch cut out with 3-bolt Flange this time. The flange was un-bolted this last time and the numbers were worse than it was with the full exhuast system. The #'s should have produced 10-15rwhp more with the exhuast in free flow over the stock cat back. I want to see if TSP de-tuned the car when they finished the dyno tuning.

So you are saying you should be somewhere near 415 RWHP now! I hope you get it man, I was just using my car as a comparrison to yours & I have Longtube & X-Pipe & put down 389 RWHP which is about a 25 RWHP diffrence & which case I should be right near you then, I am going to post a thread to see what other auto's are making with their setups.

Well if you saw my a/f graph and the a/f numbers to go with it you would see there is power to be had with the a/f. I just dont think it's enough to make up for the original 8-18 rwhp from the previous dyno results. The guy pulled my tune off and saved it, looked at my transmission settings and what not. He told me nothing was too out of wack on the overall tune. If i can find a sweet deal on a dyno tune in texas i might get it retuned if i keep the car. TSP is way tooooo far away from me to even bother with them. They used LS1edit when they tuned it. I would like to see someone use HP Tuner on the car this time.

DFW and SA are about the same overall distance from Fort Hood. I have drove both ways many times. We'll just have to see what happens. I return to college in august to finish my bachelors degree and i dont feel the

I think the second pull was about right.
If you could tune your car to around 385 RWHP/ 350 Tq, I would say you are doing good.
And get some suspension mods, like better shocks/coils and SFC's and Torque Arm.

thanks for the input, the tuner/dyno guy said i should be able to see 400 as well. Just wanted to get some feedback. Ifi keep the car i'll try and find someone to tune the car in DFW/SA area

Maybe someone was joy riding in your car when you were away and messed something up. Thats a good bit of power to lose over 2 years and your tq #'s are way low. My g/f's WS6 made 353hp/360tq with only headers, lid, borla through unlocked converter. Good luck with finding your lost power, hopefully you will soon

Agreed!! Something foul is afoot. If I keep the car i'll figure it out. If not i'll pas the info off to new owner so he will have a point to start at.
