228 is more low-end power, 233/239 would have a higher peak rpm

TSP 228R will make awesome power all the way till stock redline. It's not a peak power cam, but makes great power throughout the curve.

the 228r is a great street cam and still capable of good hp.with high enough dcr,say 8.8 with a set of afrs or similar in an m6 you will see about 350 ftlbs @3000,probably between 400-410 peak rwtq and around 440- 450 rwhp @ 6200-6300 with all the boltons.you will have to spin the 233/239 higher to reach it's peak=probably around 6500-6600 and tq will probably be lower.

My car is kind of a daily driver, and also an A4. It only will see dry weather from April to November. I basically want a good street cam. I wont be seeing the track too often; maybe 3-5/year. I dont mind a good amount of lope but nothing too crazy either. Right now I'm leaning toward the 228R at 112LSA. AT time of installation I will have full bolt on's including UD pulley.

Im also leaning towards the 228R on a 112. It seems to be a good street cam and can make good power

i have been thinking about this same question for my gf's '02 SS a4, its a dd, sees about 45 miles a day and maybe a 100 miles on the weekends. she doesnt race, just wants to revive the car and make it have that thrilling feel she had when she bought it 4 years ago. im leaning towards the 228R on a 114 for her. with kooks and true duals, she wants some sound as well, lol.

stick with the 112, you'll make more power throughout. The 114 starts more towards the middle of the powerband.

I ran the TSP 228R and i loved it i liked the way it sounds and the power was awsome the bad thing i didn't get to engoy it to long since my engine sucked up water and hydrolocked. but i will definatly buy another for my new engine as soon as i get some more cash. 228R all the way with 112 LSA.

Thanks for all the info guys. 228R @ 112lsa is the way I'm going. It was a tough decision. I just dont want to get peak numbers above 6000rpm. I wanted to peak (ideally) at 4-5000rpm and carry to about 65-6600.

i have a LS2 403 that is going to be finished i hope tomorrow.

this cam would go in my girl's SS, she doesnt race nor cares about making peak numbers, she wouldnt even know what peak HP would mean at this point. she wants it to sound better and give the car that extra kick that it has lost. so i told her we are going to put a cam in it and freshen the motor up at the same time. cam and headers w/true duals is all we will do to it. thinking about a 2800 stall as well.

Hey dude, the stock cam peaks past 5k so you can count on the 228 peaking even higher.

I have low torque but I don't care about dyno numbers. My numbers are lower now dur to the 12-bolt and 3.73 gears.

233/239 here, and I love it, but then I have an M6, 12bolt 4.10s, and I don't DD it. But I sure can't complain about the power!

Thumbs up

You are not going to see much if ANY difference between the 112 and 114 LSA version of the 228R. Just make sure you have it ground with 4 degrees advance or +4. Mine: 228/228 114+4 makes 450rwhp/410rwtq with the PRC stage 1 heads....peak power is at 6250rpms.
