Default Low Dyno Numbers

I dynoed my Car on a Mustang Dyno 9 months ago

I had the lid off.

only mods were a lid

stock 2002 Camaro Z28 M6

It was at my school.

we dynoed on 4th gear for a 1:1 ratio

I only put down 248 RWHP.

can anyone tell me what I did wrong here?

Ill try and find the graph later.

could a different weight entered on teh computer make a difference?

Oh and the humity wasnt high and it was cool weather.

Was it a Mustang dyno? Did you pull to 6k?

The dyno could just be messed up... I saw a stock Honda Civic SI dyno ilke 205whp and like 210wtq. hahahaha

It also did the 1/4 run on it and ran a 14.5 or something like that... hrm. Unlikely in both cases

Your times dont reflect your power I think your car dont like dynos. Mine put down with a lid and slowmaster 348 360 and my fastest time on et was 12.8 at 108

Was the RPM pickup twitchy ??? You could have been having an iductive lead issue to the Smart Tach. It can cuase all kinds of chaos with the final numbers.

Mustang Dyno. Yeah I pulled to 6k or at least 5800+ anyways the max power for LS1s on a stock cam is around 5600 so I was at peak HP.

But all cars got low readings on that dyno.

a 5.0 with all boltons got 180 RWHP.

and Infiniti G35 with intake and exhuast got somewhere in 180 RWHP ballpark or so as well.

also I did a 1/4 mile run on it also and did mid 14s, whereas in real life I would have been in the mid 13s at the time.

Twitchy? It was slow to accelerate. I went from 50 mph to 125 mph on the dyno in 4th gear.

Fairly new dyno when you went ??? What type of dyno ( mustang) was it. There are sevral dyno related issue calibration wise for the machine that could cuase similar trouble. We have moved ours 3 times and i have to call mustang out everytime to do a new parasitic loss curve,Resync the load cells due to power fluctuations and re cert the output. Its the only proper way to do it. I have had issues with my belts to the load cells scrubbing on the pulleys cuasing chaos. A good dyno operator will periodically inspect his machine to assure its working properly. My first geuss however is that the load cell TQ sensors are miscalibrated by the sounds of it. slow to accelrate is normal with this machine. It applys a real known load if everything is working properly.

It applies a good amount of load. I noticed this when I did a 1/4 mile test, when I shift into 2nd, it bogs down really bad, thats why my numbers were low.

your track times are very good, so obviously the dyno is wrong.

If you car REALLY made that much power, you wouldn't of been running times that people with 330 to the wheels have.

What was entered for vehicle weight?

And you don't need any type of inductive pickup on a M6 car BTW...

I dont remember what was entered for vehicle weight, that is why I am wondering why the dyno could have been off... then again, all cars were dynoing pretty low.
