Default 427 LS7 with alot of tuning needed

Just got back from dyno day at Nick Williams shop. We have alot of tuning to do but at the end of the day we figured we would strap this thing down and see what it has for a baseline. The first 2 pulls it was blowing the tires off of it. The 3rd pull we got it to hook and put down 534/487. Not too happy with the torque right now but like I said there is alot left in her. Also, I was told I needed a ZO6 maf sensor and the SLP bellow. The factory 98 MAF was killing the power, so between that and the tune I think I will be very happy. I am going to try to post the dyno sheet. This is a LS7 with ported L92's and L76 intake, cam is a 257/266 110lsa.

That was the same thing Nick and I were discussing after the pulls this afternoon. TSP told me I could spin this to 7k but it would seem there is no sense in doing that.

With such a large cam, do yourself a favor and find a SD tuner. It should make driving it alot better. Graph looks exceptional. Should be nice once you get it lined out.

Before I go buying the ZO6 maf, I will double check with him on the SD tune. Thanks for the help.

If he can't do a SD tune, do yourself a favor and go somwhere else! I am being 100% serious. He'd have to calibrate the new MAF anyway, which is more time consuming that doing a SD tune. Any reversion from that bigass cam into a MAF is going to make you unhappy. Unplug the damn thing and let it find a new home in your local landfill.

I'd retard the cam 4 degrees as well. Your IVC is too early... the intake manifold needs a crutch.

On the 427 LS6 headed cars with FAST 90s that make 580-600rwhp, they run 260+ intake durations on a 114 with no advance to push the IVC way up there to overcome the manifold. You may have to do the same.

Are there any other things needed for a SD tune? I only ask because I have never looked into doing this. Also with it being a 98 does that make things any worse/better tunning wise? Thanks for the help guys.

Unless you have a custom operating system, the car is going to run off the low octane table. The only downside is that you can't run bad gas. However, we all know you run 93, right? The only other thing you need to do is find something to replace the MAF with. Brains (site admin) hooked me up with a 3" piece of exhaust piping.

I forgot to mention that you should ask your tuner to upgrade you to the 2002 operating system at least. It'll make it easier to tune, IMO.

PVC pipe works well too. although the walls are a bit thicker than exhaust pipe

His car is a 98 so he can't upgrade to the 02 OS. He will just need to use the factory 98 OS for his SD tuning, which can be tricky with the main and secondary VE.

Good numbers for a baseline though! I bet it will pick up when you go SD or put the Z06 Maf on it. Good luck!

I guess I shouldn't have been posting so late. I had forgotten it was a 98 PCM. If it were me, I'd go to a junkyard and get a 99 and up PCM to be able to get the features not available to the 98 OS.
