Default 2 cam choices, which to go with?

ok here are the choices either a 224 228 .581 .588 114, or 231 237 .589 .595 112. what is the better choice, what would make more power? which would be more driveable? How much horsepower would each put down, with the correct supporting mods, i already have pacesetters, intake, and would get ls6 intake, rods and springs.
thanks in advance guys

Go with the 231/237, Its big but its not huge. Its obviously gonna make more power than the 224, but its also gonna lose you some low end torque. 15hp difference maybe? Drivability will be fine with both cams with any sorta decent tune, but the smaller will be better before a tune.

You'll wanna get rid of those 2.73's and get a stall though for either cam, but definitely for the larger cam

The 231/237 with a set of small chambered heads would make it very driveable and would give lots of power even down low.

BTW

I'd go with the 231/237 Speed inc cam (more aggressive lobes than TSP's 231/237)

If I was not doing a custom cam I would do 228/232 .588/.595 on a 114. 224 will be more drivable with stock heads either would be fine with the right combination of parts.

I ask what do I want with a parts change dd or drag car. Bigger cam more high HP but less low end torque. This is better for a drag car. Small cam with a shorter LSA more low end torque but less High HP. Shorter LSA will not idle as well. With ur rear end you had best look for low end torque. I like the 224 228 on a 110 plus 2.

If I were you I would pay Pat G and get what he tells you.

if you dont want to touch the heads dont go with the 231/237..

I went with the SI5 which is the 231/237 from speed and yes I have to change my valvesprings and pushrods...

however no matter what cam you go too, you should redo the springs!

the 231 237 is not a big cam at all. with a good tune it will drive great and make 12-15 hp more then the 224 228. my old cam was a 240 244 and it drove around great and my new can will be a 250 258,see a 231 237 is a small cam .

With any cam other then that LS6 cam, you HAVE to change the springs and pushrods. If you dont, you're asking for your motor to take a **** on you.

Damn right Mike! The 231/237 on a 112+4 would be great!
