Default How much rwhp can be made with a stealth setup?

I'm looking into h/c packages but would really like to keep the car as stealthy as possible. I don't want a cam that sounds real choppy, it must sound as close to stock as possible. Is 420 rwhp+ attainable with these demands?

Tell me what you have or have seen/heard.

Sounds like forced induction would be a better bet for you than. For the power your looking for, i'm not sure sounding stock is an option.

With a good set of heads and a mti stealth 2 it has been done. It is easier to hit those numbers in a m6 car. In a a4 car i think 400-425 might be as good as it gets. Stealth setups rock. Seems everyone has a monster cam these days. There is nothing like moping them up in a car that sounds stock then they tear your car apart looking for nitrous that isnt there.

I would say big stall, gears, stealth cam with ported 243 heads and Im pretty sure the average rtard wouldnt be able to spot a fast intake if the logo was sanded down and you painted it black. Maybe a money maker built into that too. Thats how I want to build my next car anyways.

With an auto though, it may not make the numbers but it will make the times. Which in my opinion is even more stealthy to have low numbers with rediculous times.

Copy my former AFR headed (stock GM short) 346 package as much as you can afford. You can make BIG power in stealth trim with the right combination of parts and an efficient driveline, but you will end up spending alot more money than your buddy next door with the donkey dick cam to do it. Not to mention may actually excede his peak numbers and destroy his area under the curve numbers. Even with 10 less peak you would still make more average power from say 4000-7000 RPM's.

For the newer members here my former 346 combination laid down 475-480 RWHP and 435-440 RWTQ on six different dyno's in two different states. It idled with barely an audible lope at 825 RPM (only a 224 cam), and drove silky smooth like stock but with alot more power and response. Not to mention got about 2 more MPG on average and pushed my 3400 lb C5 to 124 MPH at just an "OK" density altitude (1400 feet above sea level). There is a good in car video of that package at the strip running that number on this board if you have time to do a search. You can hear how smooth the idle is as I approach the staging beams.

Anyway....long story short is you can make big power with a conservative set-up but the devil is in the details and the details cost money.

PM or call me if you would like some advice...

Tony

Edit:

Thought I would include a quick rundown of the "recipe"

2000 M6 Corvette (bonestock short) 3.90 rear, lightweight dual Exedy clutch
AFR 205's milled to 62 cc's with our 8019 spring upgrd.....040 Cometic gasket
25% Underdrive pulley and a Mezeirre EWP
LG "Pro" long tubes with metal matrix cats
AFR P/N 6016 cam (224/228 @ .050)
FAST 90 mm Ported intake (by me obviously)
If building now would opt for a ported LS2 90 mm TB (I had an NW unit at the time when he was still building TB's for the "Y" body crowd)
Good CAI system (Vortex ram air, Vararam, or something equal for an F-Body)
85mm Z06 MAF (an 03' unit with no screen)
Would use the GM "Caddy" lifters now also
Crane 1.7 Gold rockers (or Yella Terra Ultralite)
Aftermarket chrome moly pushrods (Crane, Comp, Manley etc.)

That covers the bulk of it I think....

There is a guy I ran before, consistant mid-high 11's at the track with a stock exhaust, no cutout, Ported 241's, CheaTR cam, on a 18" DR. Car sounded dead stock and looked the parts also. Only aftermarket part was a cold air kit.
I dont know what it dynoed, but for how it sounded it was plenty fast.

A good set of heads and the LPE GT11 cam. On a 2005 C6, we picked up 97rwhp.
