Default New Head comparison for you

Rich @ Fairfield and Advanced Dyno have teamed up to run some testing on a new Head program that we have had in the works.

Rich has run 3 sets of heads on his car and we pulled the head that we have felt made the best performance and put them into a test with My car.

We ran 3 sets of heads on my car as well

The first head is the Lingenfelter 243 which netted 486 rwp.

The Second Set are Trickflow 225 @ 12.0:1 Compression whick netted 501 rwp

The third set is Our custom GM Performance 243 head whick netted 504rwp.

I am posting the results between the Trickflow heads and the GmPerformance heads that we have been working on.

Trickflow 225 run is in Blue
Our 243 is in Red

As you can see the 243 Heads that we have been puting together are putting down some very respectable numbers. We have a package here that makes 504 RWP with a 243 Casting head.

I have made 507rwp with the trickflows months ago but could not reproduce that anymore as it is hotter out so we made pulls with tuning right before the swap.

I've always believed properly ported 243 castings could hang with / out perform aftermarket.

We have seen the same thing through the years, over 3 years ago we had a set of 243's make over 600 RWHP on a 440 that East Coast SC built. The problem we've always had with the 243 heads was casting shift, some sets would make killer power and some were not as good.

The TFS heads will make the power with pratically no hand finish work, it is very difficult to get a 243 head to repeat without hand finish work, and then the hand finish work becomes a inconsistency in power production.

Good luck with your new head program Robert

I agree. Finding the right consistent porter is the main key. You'll probably end up spending close to a set of aftermarket heads price wise too. For people that have connections or the ability to do it themselves they are the obvious choice.
