im surprised know body said anything about the comparison test between the 07 z06 and the 2008 viper!

first its a 3 year difference,

second the viper had race compound tires and the z06 had the factory run flats.

third the z06 comes stock detuned, with just a retune you gain 30hp 25lbtq

now just stick the same race compound tire the viper had on the z06 its a stock 10.5sec car and there is prof for all of this.

if you ask me that was a bogus test just to get the 2008 srt10 viper to trap 2sec's higher than a v8 with 100hp less than the pos viper. it could be the most overrated car made to date alongside with the gt500 mustang

^Not really. We are comparing HP, not styling and prices. It doesn't take a rich man's budget to make alot of hp if you start with the right platform.

well then dodge dosnt know how to use it because it doesn't beat it unless modded from the magazine company and all it really is, is a magazine race which proves nothing. my sister can drive better than them.

Not true, DCX knows how to make a bad *** flowing head. Not only that, look at their 6.1L "Hemi" used in the SRT-8 line up.

im talking about they dont know how to use there power. they do make good power just cant show it on the track. you would think that something with a v10 and 600hp and 600+ tq could move a little better than mid to high 11's. **** i make 600to the wheel and 610tq and i run low 10's with stock bottom end ls6 and a cam. and on dr's

You cant compare your modified car with an optimized combo/rear gear with nitrous to that of a factory car etc. but I see where you are coming from.

im not trying to compare my modded car to a stock just trying to compare the power levels. something with 600hp should run faster than a mid 11.

but im glad you see what im trying to say.

Anyone out there can make a motor, put it in a cheap body and be "affordable".

But to buy power like that, off the show room floor, def not going to do it making 30-40k/yr and have to support yourself.

Great #'s,but I'm sure the 08 supercharged zo6 will still take it out. I hear that new vette is gunna be crazy fast. 1/4mi my T.A will eat it up,but I'm a no go on the express way against either of them.

All that is being argued here is whether or not the car puts out the performance number that it's dyno numbers and hype say it should. No one is saying that we should all be able to go and buy one.

Are you saying that if we can't afford it then we shouldn't bother talking about it?

I am. It would really help with the number of fruitless, and inevitably locked, topics.

The first post was a Statement on how fucked we are.

The majority of the subsequent post are about debating to the extent on how fucked we actually are.

One of the post, I think someone threw in a ambigous ZR1/Z06 can race it and probably beat it ect ect.

I stated its getting to the point where unless you buy it first, your trailing behind. And for comparing hp #'s reletive to what? To what you or I drive, or to what else is avalible?

My conclusion, unless the rich man's son gets behind the wheel, your not going to race this thing, its not going to the track and hence pointless to talk about it. But I will say you will see videos about it on the internet....

"end of rant"

^If there are videos of in on the internet then that means people are racing it. Does it gaurantee that you'll line up against one...no. But I know one certain guy that had a 1994 Z28, raced a Viper and beat it and likes to brag about it. Maybe we should tell him that since we can't afford it, and there's not a huge change that we will race one, that it's not worth mentioning anymore. You see what I'm saying?

Someone posted up what the new Viper makes stock. We are, first off, discussing how underachieving they seem to be at this point with the numbers they have. Second trying to figure out how we're gonna beat them. The Z06 thing has to be brought up because you have to comare Chevy's flagship to Dodges. Think of it as people discussing UFC fighters against each other. None of us will ever be in the octagon, but it's still fun to talk about it.

As for how to beat it...obviously there are many many ways that don't necessitate buying a $90k car. Personally, I think that a set of heads and a 150 shot on my car will safely put a stock one to bed. There will always be someone with money who mods one to make way more power than I can compete with, but there will be many many more who keep them stock, and are left scratching their heads when an fbody or GTO or Mustang, or whatever walks away from them.

It's all part of the fun.
