Default FAST 90 and small cam results..

I just finished my buddies 03' Vette 6 speed. Started with TPIS hand ported 241 heads(stock compression), TPIS headers/stock cats and a TPIS 215/220 cam was making 382RWHP. Added a Ported FAST90 and 90 throttle body(both ported by me), ASP underdrive pulley, and a custom ground CompCam 222/228 .581/.588 118LSA XER lobes. Made 432rwhp(STD)/426rwhp(SAE). The headers and stock cats are not the best. He's going to change to better headers and high flow cats later...

Very respectable numbers. Why such a wide split? Owner wanted stock idle quality? Emissions?

Only way I could get it to fit without flycutting, heads have 2.02/1.57 valves..Plus he didn't want his wife to bitch about a rough idle...

Wow, impressive numbers on a fairly small cam. Must have been a good porting job on the heads, as well. Get us an update when you swap to hi-flow cats. Congrats.

Nice numbers! The flow numbers look like they have a strong low/mid flow

This thing drives and idles as smooth as stock..You would never know it has heads and cam...I tried to get him to switch to PRC 5.3L heads to bump up his compression, but he didn't want to spend the extra $$...

Yeah, I saw that...just not used to a 50 difference between horsepower/torque.

That is an awefully small cam to require flycutting with stock 66cc combustion chambers even with the bigger valves. I ran 62cc chambers with those valves and 224/224 .563/.563 113LSA without flycutting. Did you degree the cam?

yep degreed the cam. PTV clearance was .090 intake and .110 exhaust...XER lobes are more aggressive. We tried a 228/236 on a 114LSA. Had .048 intake and .075 exhaust..It fit but was to close for my taste...

I couldn't fit a 220/224 111lsa 590ish lift with 64cc 2.02 int LS6 heads with a .040 gasket.

Not enough room for my taste either. Thats pretty tight with the 228/23 cam.

chriswtx, how much of the 34-40 horse gain do you suppose was due to the 90/90 combo versus the gain from the underdrive and slightly larger cam? Did the peak HP rpm move upward and by how much?

reason I ask is that I'm currently running a T.R. CheaTR (215/232) with CNC'd 243's and LT's w/Cats and stock exhaust, making the same 382RWHP and am considering switching to a 90/90 combo. When we dynoed it, my tuner told me that based on the MAP readings he was seeing at upper RPM's, he thought the stock manifold/TB combo was the bottle neck in my combo...

Again, interested in your results as an apples to apples comparo... IRS to IRS, LS1 to LS1, etc.

Anymore light you can shine on the subject would be appreciated...
