Default how much power ls6 heads?

How much power are you making on your ls6 heads? Iam thinking about going with a set of ls6 stage 3r heads so i can compete in a local true 10.5 true street class that you have run a oem head are a afr 225 head. The heads i have looked at are the livernoise 240cc stage 3r ls6heads,are the afr225.which will make the most power?

Default power

Before I demodded my TA, mine was making around 430 at the wheels with a set of LS6's and a 23x custom ground cam, 3800 stall, headers, and LS6 intake. Now all the parts just laying in the garage.

I have the Livernois 240cc Stage 3R heads on my 402CI and like them. I think the only thing better would be ET Heads.

With enough $, I think most of the factory castings can be made to do just about whatever. People have been going fast on them for awhile. The aftermarket stuff makes it easier to get crazy though.

FWIW, I have a set of 243's with fairly extensive porting and "street car" valvetrain parts (SS 2.055/1.60 valves) that did around 535/500 RW on a 11.8:1 hyd 408". Same heads did around 470 RW on a iron 370" with alot less compression.

They flowed around 325/225 on a 4" fixture if I remeber right with great mid lift #'s too. I'd offer to sell them to you, but the chambers are sized for a 4.030" bore.

i really wish livernoise would chime in here because thats what i have narrowed my choice down too.It will be between there ls6 stage 3r or the et245 greg good.Iknow the et's will make more power but how much? and does it justify the price difference? also with the ls6 i can race in the local true street class.

You ask the same questions I did and still do. If you telephone Livernois and ask nicely I think they will send you one of their flow sheets. If they don't then PM me and I'll send you mine. Flows are very similar to the ET Heads, but ET Heads have those hidden unknowns and the 11-degree valve angle that makes them worth the extra $800.00 or so dollars. If I did it again I would go with ET Heads. But, the Livernois heads did get me to my power goal of 500 rwhp.

I learned one thing you have to watch out for is that some head providers grind so much out of the intake ports that small holes are present. Although very difficult to see, they allow oil to be sucked into the combustion process. ET Heads have their own casting, so this danger is avoided.
