Those are some really nice numbers for not running anything crazy. The torque curve is really nice and it'll gain some power as it breaks in.

That is awesome, other than the heads this is almost exactly the setup I will be running. Thanks for the post buddy.

What kind of heads you plan on running?
I attribute this engines power to the heads, as in any combo. Its all about the heads.

Come on now the cam is the brains of the operation, they tell the lungs what to do.

Air pump...if the heads/intake don't flow what the cam wants...the combo is not going to be optimized. The brain can call for more air from the lungs but if they can't flow it the brain won't get it. You can leave the valves open all day but the heads/intake can only take in as much air as they can flow. I think Ed is right, the cam is matched pretty well to that set of heads.

I was just joking around with Ed, the cam was spec'd by the head cam grinder, so I would hope that it was optimised for the engine combo. He seams to do quite well for the Alan Johnson & Don Perdone Funny Cars/Top Fuel Dragsters.

I think it's the butt. The lungs can get all the air they want to the brain but if you can't get the byproducts out you'll just get all backed up.

with a m6 stock rear/gears,an aluminum flywheel, ported F.A.ST,and on a dyno jet depending on the heads and cam used it looks kinda weak.

If you dont know the heads and cam used, how can you even say? What do you think it should make? Would you have been more impressed if it had made those numbers on a Mustang or dyno dynamics?
I dont think its abnormally high or low. As a matter of fact, I told the guys before the very first pull I thought it would make about 530. I guess I guess pretty good. LOL

I will have to remind him that his car is a "weak" build. The other day he made a R1 look like a moped from a 85 mph pull to 150 (he shut the car down as the bike was way behind). It is not the most HP ever, but weak, come on.

We should have some fuel mileage coming shortly with this car as my cousin makes the 2200 mile trip back here.

Well so far after about 900 miles cruising at 82 mph my cousin is getting between 25-28 MPG, according to miles traveled and the gas receipts. At a constant 105 mph over a period of time his instant MPG reading was holding pretty steady at 20 MPG.

I don't see how that can be accurate though...too much temptation . I would never be able to keep my foot out of it for an entire tank of gas.

Well he kinda has to right at the moment, as he is needing a new pair of shoes on the rear tires (too much in town fun! ).

Aluminum fly wheel, stock rear & gears, stick shift, dyno jet......Nothing to rob power on this build up. Maybe weak was not the right word, just thought it would of been more with all those non-power robbing mods.

Mike I'm sorry that we didn't live up to your hopes on this build, next time we will consult you about how to build it properly.

Welcome to LS1tech. If you had posted up 1500RWHP there's always an "expert" that will chime in on how you did it wrong...

Enjoy the car. If it makes you happy - you're good!
