Default FAST 92mm Results... I wouldnt believe it myself if I didnt see it first hand!!!!

I had a customer call and purchase a FAST 92mm Intake. He owns a stock internal 02 Z06. I told him not to expect too much increase in power with his current mods. He understood and said he wanted it sanded/painted and was more interested in the appearance than he was the improvement in power( He plans on doing heads/cam this fall)...
Once that was settled I got his intake ported/painted and called him in for an install. We agreed we wanted to do an exact A/B comparison so we strapped down his Z06 for a few baseline pulls. #s were within 3rwhp of the last time the car was in for a tune.
Without removing the Vette from the dyno we installed:

Vengeance Ported FAST 92mm Intake
Sanded/Smoothed/Painted
Ported LS2 90mm Throttlebody
Adapter Harness
FAST Gaskets

Original Modifications were:

VaraRam Induction
Kooks 1 7/8 Longtubes with catted X pipe
B&B Catback
Everything else 100% stock

Graph is below

NOTE: Im not saying these gains are typical!!!! This post is simply showing the results of one customers car. It does show that stock internals cars will not show a loss anywhere under the curve by going to the larger intakes....

FWIW, the customer is a member of this forum and will probably chime in once he sees this post. He stood beside us the entire time checking out the install.

Below are a few pictures of the 92mm intalled on the car. We left the 92mm logo on the intake to give it a different look.

28 hp and 27 tq difference between the LS6 and the 92mm Fast? Damn I'm glad I just ordered mine!! I was concerned about whether or not it was going to be worth it to replace my LS6 with the new Fast, I also got the big mouth TB. Good info!!!

wished you could have taken the time to throw on a ported fast 90 and do the same test. Since you have had both the 90 and 92 apart are there any differences besides the slightly larger snout?

This is a Z06 and not a stock F-Body...
I dont think u would see that kind of results on a 01 F-Car..

Still it is pretty amazing to see that kind of power out of the bolton setup

Awesome Ron !!! Now what do you think the intake / tb would've been worth with some top of the line heads and a fairly aggressive cam (598/598 236/236) ??

I bet the results would've been another 10 to the wheels on the hp side, or is that being too optimistic. At any rate I am basing my opinion on what this car did, not what all cars will do.

Again awesome results, and thanks for leading the way on posting results with the ported 92 fast.
'
One more question, do you think a larger t/b (95mm) would've had any benefit at all ??

Great paint job too !!!!

pretty sure any H/C combo would be worth a lot more than 10 to the wheels.

It says in his post it was with in 3hp of the last time the car was in for a tune.
So I would say for sure it was tuned before.

To answer the questions...

1.No 90mm intakes left guys.. FAST has quit making them with the release of the 92mm

2.The inside of the 92mm looks just like the 90mm with just a larger snout/new stainless hardware/nut serts in the TB

3.JS, I dont agree. The Z06, while it needs more air has an LS6 intake on it. A 99 F Car might not need as much air, but it has an LS1 Intake. I think the gains would be similar. As I stated above though, I personally dont think these gains are typical. We have ALWAYS made power with FAST 90mm intakes on bolt on cars, but this is pretty much top of the line for gains....

4. Allngn, Most of the FAST intalls make between 25 and 35rwhp depending on the overall setup. Most bolt on cars only pick up 15rwhp or so... I dont think this intake would have made anymore than 29rwhp on an aggressive heads/cam combo. This car just happened to like the additional airflow...

95mm on this combo, in my opinion, wouldnt yield any additional gains. Who knows though

The car had been dyno tuned to make the 370rwhp. Air Fuel was 13.0 across the board. Nothing changed between the swap on the tune.

To clarify what I meant when I said 10 more rwhp.

If the car would've been a h/c setup do you think another 10 rwhp could be had by installing the 92 mm fast on it for a 38 rwhp gain vs the 28 rwhp that the bolt on set made ?? or is that just wishful thinking ??

To BLU1 I think you just misunderstood. I know a h/c swap is worth more then 10 rwhp.

I agree... Like I said, I doubt these results are even typical. We need a few other bolt on Z06s in the shop to find out
