bird only put up 310 rwhp... seems light
This was run on a Dynojet
here is the mod list:
slp air lid
smooth bellows
90mm maf
slp ram air kit (under bumper style)
edilbrock mids
I suspecet stock Y pipe
slp loud mouth 1 exhaust
4:10 rear end
CEL is on I suspect its because the cats are bad, but i havent checked it out
Should I be seeing better numbers out of this, or does that seem about right?
The owner of the shop was looking at it and said he had a stock TA on the rollers last week putting up 302rwhp...
I know the car is old (140k miles) but it dosent feel tired.
Could the clutch be slipping and I dont know it?
could the Y pipe be holding me that far back?

2. yeah thats what I figgured, talked to a friend with an exhaust shop and he said my cats are prolly orrigonal as well and arnt helping too much. he wants to make a 2 1/2" Y for $75 for me... I think I will take him up on that soon
3. sorry, forgot to mention its a hypertech programm..
Except for the loud mouth, this is how I bought the car. I have only had it for a few months. I thought it was kinda retarted for him to be running a 90MM maf in the first place... The ls1 stock maf, TB, and intake flow just fine for stock cam and heads.... ah well best to work with what I have...
Do you guys think the maf is f-ing it? Is there a pig tail or a tuner or something I can pick up to get it to run correctly?

Yeah I know, Im trying to to let it get to me. Im trying to tell my self that I have great fun with the car as it is and not to worry about numbers till I put together the turbo setup and tune it in..... but damn..
I mean it sucks that im only putting up 5hp more than a stock TA!!

You need to know what the timing is. Any Idea? How about the the Air/fuel ratio. Any Idea. You have to know the basics before you bitch. If you dont know find out.

yep, that looks to be the way it will have to go down.
Bitch?!
WTF???
I’m just curious as to if these numbers that I am seeing are actually low or am I just expecting too much out of this car. I was never bitching.
No, I never checked timing or air fuel ratio because at the moment I have no means of changing those things... All I can do now with my budget is fix the bottle necks (planning to do it any way) and swap out things that might be causing an issue (MAF). I don’t have the $530 to blow on this guy trying to tune the car (he has only started playing with the ls1's and I don’t feel up to letting him learn on my dime and my car!) and I sure as hell don’t have the money to **** away on finding out my timing and A/F ratio just to determine that I need to change the MAF or get it tuned (seems to be the only two options on that one).
I could be expecting too much from this car, but I think it should be about 20hp stronger than it is. All I’m trying to figure out is if my expectations are reasonable and what in my setup if any thing is the most likely culprit.
From what i gathered, though its never been stated, is yes, 310 rwhp is a bit light. Also I need to start gathering information on the MAF sensor.

To get best horsepower you need to have the air/fuel ratio and timing set. You can do everything you want until get the timing and a/f you will never know what you have.

OP, seeing as how you're not sure what has been previously done to the car, getting it tuned might not be a terrible idea if you don't have any major plans for it anytime soon. And if he does good work, I'd take up that offer for a y-pipe.

Id much rather just get a stock maf (if that’s the main issue).
Its just bugging me that I have that much potential HP just sitting there.
I guess I could justify buying the tuning software a bit ahead of schedule, but I don’t want to sink $500 into having it professionally tuned till I have the turbo setup in place.
Just two pulls no tuning. a local shop had a $50 dyno day and I thought it would be good for a couple of giggles and also a good way to get a base line.

if you got some LT's and an ORY, u'd definitely gain 15 rwhp or more. that stock y is definitely holding you back. i agree about the MAF, a stock one might help.
I just saw that you said there was no tuning. With a tune, and mods i mentioned, i would expect at least 330 rwhp

bwahahahaahah!
I finaly got around to looking into the CEL
Turns out both Pre-cat o2 sensors are bad!!
so I did a dyno pull with the wrong maf, the stock Y pipe, and running in 'safe mode' and still made 310hp!! Now Im proud of it LOL!
well a stock maf is in the mail for me.
the o2's are just a phone call away
and a buddy of mine has an exhaust shop and he said he would throw together a better Y for me... all I have to do is give up my car for a day...
with my winter driver wasnt in the body shop that would be off the list already.
I have to get it dynoed again after its all done... just for the pure fact that I want to know just how much this stuff held it back.
