Why the ms3 is no good for the street!
was doing some thinking and was bored so I was analyzing my dyno graphs and wow this cam is not a good dd cam( mine is a racecar so i dont care) but for an all around DD wow....
this is to all the noonbs that thing biggest is always the best, this graph explains it all
300 rwhp wasnt made until 4700... and it makes 400 at 5800... talk about pulling up top
just some food for thought.
mods: MS3 on 112, stock heads, ported FAST 90/90, 85mm Maf/lid, SSra, 13/4 pacesetters, dynomax bullet off each collector
stock 10 bolt, 4.10's, locked 4400 stall and dynoed on 28 inch slicks
superflow dyno

It is all in the tune IMO. My guess is your tune is not spot on under 4k since you have a loose converter. There are big cams that make good power in the low and mid range.

thats why i like my little cam Keep in mind though that would probably be alot better of a cam in an M6 car, where you could put the car right in its powerband if you were racing on the street. IT all comes down to what type of powerband your looking for and even what car your putting it in....for a GTO i like a smaller cam for more tq in the lower RPM's, most guys that actually perform at the track (at least with GTO's) run a smaller grind. Lighter F-bods can probably get away with the larger grinds for more high end power.

Yeah, but I think your power is off down low compared to others of similar size cams. IIRC, my T-Rex made about 300rwtq at 3000RPMS on a Mustang Dyno through 4.56s and a 9" with locker. You are only at about 250. I have sean other MS4s make similar power down low to mine.

This is exactly what I am oposing. Big cams do make good low end. Anything at or above 300rwtq is good low end cam only. And most big cams do just that. My point is you can't make a blanket statement just because your numbers are low in the low end. This does not mean your car is not capable of better low end numbers. My guess is your tuner did most of the tuning above 4k and did not dial in the low end, so your low end numbers are low.
