VRX5 Camshaft in action
Everything below is from the customers post made by him on the GTO forum.
I apologize for the repost. This was posted in the South East section, but I thought it might be worth posting here. I took my Goat to Vengeance Racing last week. They replaced my JBA shorties/catted mids with Kooks Signature Series LTs and Kooks catless mids. I had the headers and mids jet hot coated with 2000 degree gray coating first. Vengeance also replaced my Comp XR 277 cam (224/228 534/537 112 LSA) with one of their VRX5 cams (236/238 601/605 113 LSA) and upgraded the springs from Comp 928s to Patriot dual golds. Finally Mike completely redid my tune. Bottom line:
HP/trq before - 422/415
HP/trq after - 463/431
The Goat now sounds damn "snotty" (to quote Ron). Very, very choppy idle and "hide the women and kids" loud at part throttle. However, just easy shifting around town will turn heads but not generate tickets. The Goat just sounds freak'n incredible to be honest. But two things really stand out. Despite the choppy idle, this car drives nearly identical to how it did with the smaller cam. No surging at traffic lights, no sweat in stop and go traffic. Pulls away easily at a green light. It would make a perfectly acceptable daily driver. Secondly, although it will rocket from 3000 on up when you hit the gas, this cam is incredibly smooth with surprising torque under part throttle, even at low rpms. I don't feel like I lost anything down low in the rpm range despite the much larger specs of the cam, no doubt the 3.91's help here too. Anyway, I'll post a video when I get my dang camera replaced one of these days. In the mean time here is the dyno sheet. Finally, thankx to Mike/Ron and the crew at Vengeance Racing. Those guys make real, usable power, pure and simple and could not be easier to work with!!!

Since I don't live in Cummings area, and last time I was thru there was in the late 60's an I'm sure Cummings has grown some since then, could you at least give me a hint as to what the street address is as MapQuest is a medium time dial up download, but I should be able to get directions off it in less than an hour...

PS:I can still remember the pain of paying .20 cents a gallon for gas.
Lot of company's have forgotten about us cheap people when they design a website.
I'm loving my Trick Flow 228/230 cam, however seeing gains like this from a simple moderate to slightly more aggressive cam swap really has my thinking about making it happen!

They swapped exhaust also to a much better setup.
