Default 228/232 111, Low #s need help!

Have a 228/232 .600 .601 111

Car put down after bolt ons 318hp and 327 tq, now its at 340 and 328.
I am pretty dissapointed after doing all this work for these results. I need to start trouble shooting this problem. First, it pulls 4 degrees at timing on initial hit but 0 up top. Next, it has tr 6 plugs. I bought tr 55 gaped at 50. One the way home some serious knocking sound occured. Started as a bad exhaust leak sound to sound of metal on metal. Broke spring, or rocker possible? Valve covers come off Monday. Could loose rockers be part of my power problem? I was planning to do a compression check when I went to change plugs but never got that far

yes loose rockers will kill your hp numbers, it like running in limp mode I wouldn't suggest running it like that. I had a problem wear a rocker started to back out and caused it to missfire a hell of a lot. use some locktite on the threads it really will help. good luck hope you get it figured out. trevor

I think it might have been comming loose on the dyno and when I drove away it finally let go. Possible one might have been loose and just couldnt tell untill it let go after I got off the dyno?

No kidding. Right now got plenty of things to look into, this car is really pissing me off.

1. Find knocking sound, hopefully rocker came loose or spring and didnt tear anything up.
2. compression test
3. plugs

After that I have no idea.

Passenger side valve cover is off, atleast one rocker arm was loose enough to be turned by hand. Im going to have everything re adjusted by this shop, hopefully everything turns out ok. If the rockers werent torqued right, could that effect power? Even though it wasnt making noise when it was on the dyno.

it may have been just starting to loosen up (which would be a ticking sound sorda like an exhaust leak but the sound would obviously be coming from the valve covers) did the shop you are taking it to the one that done the work ? if not just torque the rockers down your self. get a torque wrench and some locktite and torque them to 22-25 lbs or so. you have probably found the culprit to your problem.

Unhappy

Nope, wasnt it. It was re dynoed and put down the exact same power. I cant see changing plugs and knock sensor picking up that much.

Post the dyno sheet with AFR readings. Do you have a scan of the dyno run? Did you do a compression test, what about a leak down test? Is the TPS reporting 100% throttle opening? Any codes present?

I need to do a compression test. Only codes are for the o2 sensors being weak. What is a leakdown? I ran it at the track tonight, 12.13 @ 110. Trap isnt where a cammed car should be imo. I'll get a graph up.

My rockers came loose after the cam install too. I torqued them and applied loctite and it fixed it. With your mods I would assume that high 11's should be easy... At first I was thinking that the converter was unlocked too. Good luck

A leakdown test checks to see how much pressure is getting past the rings, gaskets, etc ... Any more then 10% and you have a problem.

Unless your race weight is 3300 lbs with you in the car, your trap speed is right on par for a 400rwhp car weighing in at 3800 lbs (with driver). To me it looks like the dyno is not reporting accurate numbers, try a different dyno. Just my thoughts. Now if your race weight truely is 3300lbs that would equate to an 11.70 @ 116 with about 400rwhp (typical cam-only numbers)

Well only thing I have out of the car as far as weight is spare tire/jack, and front sway bar which is hardly anything. I would consistantly trap 106-107 before the cam so I gained 3-4 mph. Im almost positive it has 1190s with any track prep. Motor has 93k on it.
