We all understand and acknowledge that the LSx motors were ahead of their time (or maybe others were just behind)... I am just very tired of the "well my car is old, so give me some credit" thing.

Well, technically the vq engine dates back to 1994 but it's still not even close to the lsx powerhouse.
The new Z's real competitor will be the mustang, challenger, '09 camaro, rx8, and s2000 obviously. I think Nissan's main priority in this economy (and anytime for that matter) is in sales and profits...
As for the 13 second 1/4 not being stout, that's pretty accurate for anything purchased for the purpose of drag. Yet, I've said it before and I'll say it again; most Z drivers don't have the 1320 as their main priority. But then again, they don't exactly accel on the roadcourse either though they are fun as hell to drive..............

Just my .02

The G37 is not even close to what the 370Z will be mostly because of the weight difference. Shoot the 07-08 Z is faster than the G37. Low 13's/high 12's should be the average for the 370Z.

I thought about looking at one as a DD but, IMO, the interior/dash is ugly as sin.

this is the way i said it to my friends, you can get a G8 GT for the same price / or cheaper and it can seat 3 more people if needed and is just as fast.

just my .02 cents.

and sonic boom thats old school right there, i always used to say "ugly as sin" like 5 years ago, reminds me of my last years in highschool.

The G8 is a nice car tho for the price. But you're right, a person in the market for a car would not consider one between those two. It is a cool car if you want more than 2 seats and something that is a bit rare to see.

Definitely a respectable motor. I've seen as fast as a 13.4 @ 106, that was as fast as my stock 2000 Z28. 330 hp out of stock 6 cylinder is stout. Think about it the 2009 Mustang GT has 2 more cylinders and almost 1 liter more displacement and it only makes 315 hp.

Looks like a mix between a porsche and an Audi TT. Wtf were they thinking with those head lights?

A whopping 270 lb-ft of torque! Sure to be a real neck snapper.

It would be funny if the new Camaro not only beat its *** in a straight line, but could run with it in "da twizties" too.

Well considering the 370Z is a dedicated sports car, and is gonna weigh ~600-700lbs less, I doubt that's gonna happen. And since the Camaro is gonna be damn near 4,000lbs and make ~375rwhp, you can bet it's not gonna be much faster than the 4th-gen F-bodies. And they aren't even in the same class, so again... You guys claiming that this car is stout need to remember that this is the same company that touted their GTR as the end all and blah blah blah. Yet you cant equal their advertised track times without voiding your warrenty.

Im sure there is some bullshit with the new 370z that will prevent it from actually running a 13.4 without you voiding the warrenty....

To this day the only thing nissan has made that's been impressive to me has been the B2200 pickup truck.

Which makes it THAT much funnier since a CHEAPER, better built, more comfortable, heavier, 4 door SEDAN, is just as fast! Pontiac made a home run in the G8 - their advertising department however, all needs to be shot in the head. I could design and produce better commercials.

The best part is when you start modding that LS3 in the G8 GT, it REALLY wakes the foock up.

Ok, and a G8 GT w/ $10k in mods would make a base Corvette it's bitch... and be more comfortable, heavier, and a 4 door SEDAN. Yes the G8 is a fine car, but when you start making stupid comparisons it pushes people away from good cars. And the B2200 was a Mazda.

You seem to get your panties in a bunch quite a bit on here. All people are saying is that the 370z is not a good deal. Its going to get beat up on the streets just like its older brother, but cost more and look uglier.

Not a good deal compared to what? Cars that aren't in its class? In that case (like I said) the Corvette isn't a good deal either. So AGAIN, [/comparison]. It's we-todd-did.

in the handling department the new camaro is going to be way better than the 4th gens and in a straight line it should be quite a bit faster too. I think the new camaro is in the same class as the 370z because they are both rwd, 2 door sport and the same price range, just one has a v8 and the other has a v6
