Possible sneaky mustang...
A buddy of mine sold off his old new edge mustang which had some cams/ headers/ gears and bought a different one, supposedly stock but with a new aftermarket clutch. It used to run within 2-3 car lengths of a ls1 with shifter, lid, and catback before he even put the gears in...was somewhere in the mid 10s at a 1000ft track after the gears. I do know the guy has the driver mod.
We're scratching our heads as to why he would trade down and he hasn't given a good answer other than "it's newer."
But he's been bugging me wanting to come up to buy a set of 4.6 truck heads off me and to run a time or 2. So I'm wondering if there's not something sneaky going on.
What would it take for him to keep up with a couple 330+rwhp cars? One being mine and the other being a friends 92 lt1 swapped camaro with a 6speed and 4.10s (he was running 13.0x 1/4 with street tires and 2.0x 60ft times).
Gonna run anyway but I'm just curious and bored.

his OLD car went 10s in the 1000ft (he lives right near centerville and that's what they run...the whole 1000ft thing loses me), no slips on the new one
the only thing he's admitted to is rebuilding the transmission because it went out right after he bought it and putting a new clutch in

It would take gears, almost full bolt ons, tune for a 2V to hand with a low 13s LS. It could be a GT with a 4V swap. Are you sure it's a GT and not a 4V?

I thought all 94-04 were SN95 and the new ones were the 05+ S197, I just thought new edge was some slang for the 05+...learn something new everyday

But, testicalities aside, Sarge is 100% correct. I'm also interest to know what the 10+'s will be nicknamed. I'm assuming (I know deadly) they will be called S197s as well.

The 94-98 Mustangs all had very rounded body panels. The 99-04 models had more angles and edges, mainly around the wheel openings. That's where they came up with the slang "new edge."

It's like pancake or pepperoni nipples. They're both on a pair of ****, but the slang helps the fellows know whether she's working with parmesan or Mrs. Buttersworth.
I heard a fellow refer to them as a shoe box with a backwards ball cap stuck on top. Makes sense.

Indeed, sir. Sort of like you've got "Four-eyed" and "Aero" foxbodies. They've different headlights and features, but are more similar than different.
