Default MS4 A4 Dyno Numbers

I have done a search and almost every thread includes cars with heads or the car is a 6 speed.

My buddy is selling a MS4 and I want to know what kind of power you guys are making as well as what stall you are using. What are your track times?

I had Patrick G spec out a 232/234 with 111 LSA, but the deal my buddy is going to give is me is almost too good to pass up....

Thank You

Any supporting mods?

400rwhp cam only is very doable...

I have 1 3/4 LTs O/R Y CB LS6 PTB FTRA SLP Lid QTP ECO. I'll be getting a tune and either a PT3800 or a Circle D 4C converter.

I will be spraying a 100 shot eventually

I honestly was kind of disappointed with this cam in his car but his tune was never spot on. He had it paired with a SS4000 with stock 3.23s.

He put down 401hp with it

I think it was his tune. He would stall out and surge a lot. We raced from a roll at say 60 and he didn't start pulling until 75-80

His tuner said MS4s in an A4 can't be tuned. I'll be taking it to someone else

I'm no expert in tuning, but you better try somewhere else..sounds fishy that a tuned MS4 is stalling and not pulling at all. Think about it twice before going with the biggest cam outhere; are you going for an all out track car or a hardcore DD?? if not, you better be checking for something smaller. Plus, those big cams really shine with FAST90 and ported heads...and doing things twice is pricier than doing it right first time!!

a tune is not going to make a 30-40 hp difference, his numbers are probably pretty close.

For sure, I don't trust him after that comment. It's my DD right now but I'm gonna buy a beater. I'll eventually get some heads and a fast....

While I agree with you I still don't think his car was running right

401RWHP Cam Only through a 4000 converter, stock LS6 intake, and stock TB, stock dampner pulley and he's not impressed?

I'd be DAMN happy with those numbers under those conditions (stalled stock intaked A4)

thats my cam and i was throwing a code for the trans. what would happen is in between shifts it would drop a few hundred rpm's below the shift extension and it would take what felt like forever to kick back in and start pulling again. i dont remember what the code is off the of my head but i no it was rather frustrating. i think as long as his tune is better his car should out alot better then mine did.

i have an ms4.. and absolutely love it...

car put down 385rwhp with a ported 9090 410s 4k vig stall lid and full exhaust everything else bone stock 98..
the dyno i get tuned on reads about 25rwhp low.. so take that FWIW..

i ran a 7.5@90mph in the 1/8 and it was 85 degrees outside..
i had a buddy there running 7.7@89 (f13 cam, PRC5.3s, full bolt ons, dynotune, full exhaust) that same night.. he went back two weeks later and it was 55 degrees outside.. his car was the exact same and he ran consisten 7.4s@94... again, thats FWIW... also.. i didnt have my tune when i ran the 7.5s for the intake or gears... so possibly could have been even better..

car pulled VERY hard.. its not something that wouldnt impress someone..

as for the stalling and surging... that tuner sucks *****.... and the one that said an MS4 couldnt be tuned... he needs to get another job..
i have 0 bucking/stalling/surging/ or anything..
some of his bucking is that stock gearing.. mine did that too until i got lower gears...

hope that helps.. let me know if you have any other questions..

From wat i understand is that you need at least 4.10's with that cam. And a decent stall. But im no expert.. I went with a smaller cam instead of the ms4.. And just cause you only put down 400rwhp doesnt mean the car isn't fast. There's cars with 389 that runs 11's just my 0.02's.

you dont have to have 410s or a 4k stall.. but that cam sure does like the 4k to be minimum, and doesnt mind 410s at all...

I have ms4 with mail order tune. I ran a 7.52 on 255x50x16 mt drag radial with a spinning 1.78 60ft. my car bucks bad and you have to play with the gas to get it to crank. that was with a 3k stall and 373 gears. i am putting in a 4400 stall and soon a 12 bolt with 456 gears.. looking for 6's then with a tune and 92/92 setup about to drop 100 to 200 pounds too!! Great cam man. see my sig for mods
