Default 03' z06 vs 98' z28

UPDATE ON PAGE 2

ok, so i have a nearly full bolt on 98' minus an ls6 intake... i also have a full suspension outback hooked up to a 12 bolt with 4.11s

he has a nearly stock 03' Z06... if i remember correctly he has a borla CB, CAI and ported TB

what do you think the result of this race will be?
i figure he has the better H/C on me and weight, i have LTs and the 12 bolt

if i get some sticky tires i think i might be able to pull him until 60-70, but hell have me over 100

(my car has a baby bum smooth dyno- 325HP 342TQ with the 10 bolt)
im not sure what the LS6's dyno

sorry for the long post

I think your prediction sounds pretty accurate. he'll definitely be playing catch-up with you having 4.11s.

ok, so these cars made "405" hp but i think thats a lil overrated for a slightly larger cam and heads... its rated at 12.5 in the 1/4, but it seems as though most run low 12s with DRs stock... so my guess is im ~12.4 hes ~12.2 and he has more top end

From a roll the Z06 wins, from a dig you should be able to hold him off but it will be close if he can drive.

looked up some LS6 vette' dynos, and they only put down 350-360RWHP SAE corrected, so hes gatta be under 375rwhp and according to consumerguideauto stock for stock is only 62lbs difference...

Wait.....Full bolt on and only 325rwhp? I understand dyno's vary, yadda yadda, but that seems like a good 20RWHp low for 'full' bolt on less LS6 intake, No? you have an A4, or was that done on an MD?

Either way, I think your predictions are fairly accurate.

Full bolts ons usually means headers. If you have any reasonable headers you should be a lot closer to like 350,360rwhp. If it was mustang dyno set to mustang numbers then that might make sense. If you have headers and dynoed that on a dynojet something is big time wrong with tuning likely you are pig rich headers can do that if you have not retuned.

To use those 4.10 gears you need drag type tires..nittos, et street radials..Otherwise you will simply spin and likely lose from a dig. The vettes can hook up not bad on their big street tires.I Still thought the z06 was more like 300 pounds or so lighter than your car. That is like an extra 30 or so hp advantage and 3 tenths quicker right there. Not sure how much the vettes aerodynamics come into play in the 1/4 mile. At speeds higher would think also help them out a bit not sure what drag is on the 03 z06 and your f body.

If you don't have headers and just things like lid, underdrive type of thing I would expect you to be destroyed. If you got drag tires you should get the jump off the line but would think the vette will run you down and pass you. From a roll also think the vette will pull ahead. If you have headers it should be a lot closer race. But you should be dynoing up in that 350/360 rwhp I would say.
For another tenth or two you could add if you don't have an underdrive pully and an exhaust cutout. Two fairly cheap mods that can hope and of course get the car tuned that can add another 10th or two.

Oops you have long tubes and the 12 bolt. So was that dyno pre headers? If so then understand and the race should be close. Get drag tires and you should have a nice advantage with your gears.

dyno was pre 12 bolt and thats it, it is SAE corrected and makes 320+hp for a full 1200RPM
originially the dyno pissed me off, but it also it doesnt have ls6 intake, and now thinking about it, i rather have 320HP for 1200rpm than "340rwhp" but only have over 320rwhp for 300rpm... track > dyno anyway

No idea what your last post said..sorry..

So are you saying the dyno was 320rwhp after the headers? If so that is way low. Now if its a mustang dyno it might be more in line. If untuned after the headers also likely be low too, pretty much have to retune for the headers.
And yes track is a good test assuming you have the tires to hook the car up. And at least can show mph regardless of et as there are many factors with et especially with stick car.

I understood what you were saying. As long as it runs the numbers who cares about power. My buddy went to the dyno with us and put down like 329 cammed with all the bolt ons and runs 11.4's. Track > dyno

i got the car dynotuned and it put down 325 SAE corrected... since then i did some suspension and the 12 bolt
and on the graph, im making over 320rwhp from 5K rpm straight through redline... compared to most cars that have a spike at their peak HP but it only lasts 100rpm

to my knowledge, the ls1 intake limits a car with otherwise full bolt-ons by 10-20rwhp
and 350-360rwhp on a bolt on ls1 is BS unless its uncorrected or STD, NOT SAE corrected.... my car STD corrected would have been ~335rwhp 350rwtq

Yeah the ls1 intake is going to limit things on your car. Ls6 is better for sure .

But in regards to the other post , something is seriously wrong with that dyno if it shows 325 and the car runs 11.4. It takes a heck of a lot more than 325rwhp to run 11.4 Buddies car dynos at 420rwhp from two separate dynos not mustang but dynojet, mustang can read quite a bit lower and it has heads, cam, long tubes and bolt ons. He runs 11.0 so far on spray like 100 shot, 11.8s off spray on et street radials.not sure his 60fts his car is m6. Our track is 1600ft above sea level.
So list your friends mods please but that dyno has to be really messed or they have some stupid operator. You can get some really weird numbers it seems from mustang dynos depending on how they have it set. I have seen three different numbers with same mods on same mustang dyno and they admitted playing with it. First time was mustang numbers, then dynojet equivalent ,then some formula they said just felt right to them. Needless to say not going to that place.

the only thing that can be accurate is SAE and STD, SAE being the better of the 2... he could have dynoed 329 uncorrected on a 120 degree day on the top of Mt Everest... but if it was SAE or STD corrected it would register numbers that could be compared apple to apples. my numbers were SAE which you only see 1/5 the time here.. if you want to compare my cars to every other bolt-on ls1, my numbers would be closer to 335/350 without the ls6, 350/360 if i had an ls6... HOWEVER i dont have an ls6 nor do i use STD numbers

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...ae-vs-std.html
theres alot more info on it, but thatll give you the idea

From a 20mph roll z0 gets atleast 2 1/2 links, thats with a moderate driver. From a dig he'll run ya down in 2nd or when he shifts the 3rd at bout 70-72 mph if hes a decent driver. If he cant launch, tag him and bag bim.

It's a 99 camaro. It was originally an M6, but he swapped it to a TH350 and was running on his 28" Hoosiers with track psi. He has all the bolt ons, TR224 112lsa, 78mm fast, 4800 stall, and is a stripper car lightened up even more. The Hoosiers, stall, and tranny is more than likely what caused the drop.
