Default LS1 vs 5.0 Cobra

a buddy of mine has been pestering me for quite some time now to race him and i was just wondering who would win between me in my 2000 Camaro Ls1 stock with 2200 stall and 3:73 in the rear vs. a bone stock 1993 Mustang Cobra 5.0. we will be running on a eighth mile track. both our cars are naturally aspirated. i need some honest opinions here cuz he wants to do 100 dollars a pass. he just wont leave me alone and i am tired of hearing it so i am ready to step up to the plate and knock him the f out of the park!

IS the cobra a stick? if so you w/o a doubt. 5.0's are fast....when you work on them.

You'll take it for sure if it really is stock.

Typical 5.0 mustang owner. You should be well over a second faster than him in the 1/4 if his car is stock.

This dude down the road had a 5.0 cobra of that gen, I think he was running 15.4 for his best time.

i raced my friend with a 93 gt with full exhaust, intake, and a slightly bigger than stock cam and destroyed him from a 20 roll (im stock). id imagine itd be about the same in the 1/8th, especially since youll launch harder.

You will take him as long as its REALLY stock. Something makes me think its not because i doubt he would be willing to throw down 100 dollars when his car runs 15 second quarter miles. Unless he just completely RETARDED

A friend of my brothers has a 95 GT 5.0 5 speed and it was atleast two seconds slower than my car. They aren't all that fast. I'd do the quarter mile just to be sure since I don't think those things even make enough power to spin off the line

I agree
make sure you inspect each others cars before you lay any cash down that way you can at least find out if he's had anything done.
But assuming it is stock, IIRC those cars were 240 HP stock which means he really isn't worth your time, athough in the 1/8th he'll have a better chance then if you guys ran a full quarter mile.

1993 Cobra
302 cubes, 5.0 liters
Horsepower: 235 HP
Torque: 285 lb-ft

2000 Camaro Z28
346 cubes, 5.7 liters,
Horsepower: 305 @ 5,200 rpm
Torque: 335 @ 4,000 rpm

I think that you have him beat, even if its not completely stock.

ls1 is underrated too. he would have to spray a 100 shot to keep up.

Not to mention the stall and 3.73s should take probably .6 off your quarter mile. Ask him to run a buddy of yours to see what he's really working with
