With the 100 shot? You shouldn't have any problems with him. On motor, you'd most likely lose.

Hmmm, really? I was thinking WITH the 100 shot, it would be a heads up race.

I agree, if OP is lucky that shot would put him just around the 430 mark, but only just.

I don't think so. A stalled auto and a 100 shot should be plenty IMO to
walk away from a Mach with a M5 and a stock Eaton. It might be a different
story if the guy in the Mach is on a real tire though, but I'm still giving
the edge to the LS1.

I had a A4 LS1 with a 100 shot on it (most of the time a 150 shot) so I
have a pretty good feel for what they can do...and I know what
a manual trans Mustang with 430rwhp though an Eaton can do. I'm not
detracting from your knowledge at all. I'm just saying that I'm giving my
opinion based on my experience.

It's all good man! Everbody is entitled to their opinions based on their own experiences.

I really have no idea how the high stall converter fits into the equation as far as benefiting the launch. I was under the impression that auto equipped Camaros had some ridiculously tall rear end gears, like 2.27 or something.

Then I figured on top of that, the spray won't be coming on until 3k or so. All the while the Mach 1 has the benefit of the 3.55 gears and pretty much instant torque load from the Eaton, so if he hooks, he's gone!

My only experiences running LSx powered f-bodies have been against manual trannys, so like I said, I really don't know how the stall converter is going to play into all this.

I just don't see it being a walk for either one, unless somebody really screws the pooch!

SHould be a close race. Traction will be the deciding factor.

Mach's put down more HP than cobra's on a stock pullied eaton....more HP and More torque.

Well, only Z28s (not sure on firebird equivalent) had the low gears of 2.73s, and even then, you could still option them with 3.23s. All SS cars came equipped with 3.23s standard, and the M6 ones are 3.42s standard.

With his stall, depending on if it's loose or tight, will flash the RPMs anywhere from 3-3300~ish. Essentially, tranny downshifts, flashes to RPM, and then you hold on. Makes an auto launch a hell of a lot harder (maybe not a 6k clutch dump in a manual, but it's a damn sight more consistent). Depending on his window for spraying nitrous... should pop on a moment after stabbing the throttle (like pony said, traction is what is going to decide it).
