Default 300zx TT

Ok so this kid was telling me he has a 300zx TT with a built motor and boost controller.

Not sure all his mods but he claims 600 RWHP. I don't doubt that so much as the fact that he said he's running a 9.7 or a 9.1 if he hooks.......

is a low 9 second car possible out of a 300zx with only 600rwhp?? that seemed real fast to me...

Also I asked him for a TS so I could better gauge how its running that fast...but he said he didn't know what his TS was...

any input?

Even if you knew nothing whatsoever about a 300zx, you could still piece together a power to weight ratio.

They weigh 3550 pounds without a driver...

If it REALLY did have that horsepower (doubt it... stock turbos aren't even coming close to making that), that's still only good for high 10s on a good day with low elevation, good air, and a killer 60 ft.

And by TS, do you mean Time slip? If you want a time slip from someone, I would assume you would call it by name lol

At least it's not a TLA

I would want to see a time slip at least, mainly to see what kind of MPH he is picking up on his end game. If it's a **** load (say 25-30 mph), you may actually have a worthwhile car on your hands.

See that's why I was curious at his trap speed, I think he said he had a different turbo on it, so bigger turbo = bigger lag. But if all of a sudden his turbo winds and he does gain say 30mph in the last 1/8th.....what will that do for this car? I still think its a low 10 second car even if his turbos launch him like someone lit a rocket in his ***...but still probably closer to what you predicted as a high to mid 10 second car.

Well, if it really is the case, it will be a car that does decently on the track, and really well on the highway

Moral of the story, race him at the track

Also consider, his setup, even if it is well thought out, is going to have a torque deficiency where your car, if it is making similar power, won't.

I'm commenting without knowing any real information on your car btw.

25mph from the 1/8 -1/4 isnt that hard, my old ss did that with bolt ons and a 100 shot.
8.14@92 1/8
12.39@117 1/4

You are right, I should have said... If he was nailing 100 mph in the 1/8 and THEN pulling an extra 30 mph out of his ***, that would be something worth looking for.

I've seen a 1000 hp twin turbo 300 run low 10s/high 9's...guess it depends of the car's weight/suspension setup

Indeed. My car went 8.6 at 86 mph on the 13.1 at 112 pass. The norm for my car was 23-25mph but I spun a bit in the first 1/8 between shifts on a slick track and made it up on the last 1/8. Tons of factors on last 1/8 mph IMO.

I already elaborated. Not so much that he was pulling 30 mph from the 1/8th, but that supposing is already trapping 100 and then pulled 30 mph more.. for a 130 trap

Or something along those lines....

My mistake for lack of clarity.

Raced a "built" 300ZX last night.. quick car... but not quick enough.
The guy said he had a bunch of things done to it but my WS6 walked him pretty good and I'm almost stock...

Anyways, he's not running 9's.. I bet that's an 11 second car.
