Default Any ideas what I might expect to run 1/4 mile

I've got a 6.0 in a 2006 GMC RCSB, it is carbed with a PRO SYSTEMS 850 CFM. Has a been stroked to 410 cubes 10.5 compression, with a comp cam 224/230 dur and 581/588 lift. Pacesetter long tube headers.MSD 6010, TCI super street fighter turbo 350,2800 stall and a set of 4.10's in the back. Carb is setting on a edelbrock performer. With the stock cathedral port heads with new Manley valves. Will be running 100 to 250 shot of NOS, have a progressive controller for the nitrous and will set it up for about 70% off the line kicking in the rest at about the 1 1/2 second mark. Truck ways around 4300 lbs. Has MT 28 X 15 X 9 slicks. Any ideas ?????????

PS: This is my DD

Well, over 40 people have read this and not one person has any thought as to what this setup might run. With the 4.3 V6 I ran 14.52 @ 93 MPH. I'm hoping for 11's on the motor and I have no idea with the NOS. I'm told to expect about a half a second for each 100 shot. Any educated, knowledable thoughts on this?

Thanks Steve Sr.

Mid 11s motor high tens spray.

I could be off though.. don't see too many 4300# cars around here. That converter is a little on the small side for motor so that will have an impact on whether it runs low or high 11s on motor.

The guys on the truck forum would have a lot better idea..

Thanks for repling, I have been looking on the truck side but they are all EFI. I guess I should start a build, it's just that I don't have any pic's of it in progress. This is the 2nd engine I've had done in 4 months. When I decided to go carb it changed everything.

If I can be honest I've never understood these threads.

Why not just run it and find out? You won't be disappointed if you dint hit a certain number. Plus everyone has to guess anyway.

But that's just my 2 cents and I hope to find out what ya run.

I am perfectly chill. Wasn't intending to come off as an *******.

I think his build is sweet and would like to see what it does, but barely anyone on this site uses carbs and I don't think any race trucks.

The worst is when you get your hopes up for a time and cant reach it. I know cause that's what happened to me. Now in having to redo my build to meet my expectations

Some of the more hardcore guys are running carbs..

I don't think he has a ton of hard set goals for it since he doesn't really know what to expect. I think anything in the 11.XX range would make me happy with a truck, which that truck should have no problem reaching.

OP... If you don't like your ET, move that converter up... Going from a 2800 to a 3800 would dramatically effect your ET (as in an easy .4+).

If I set my goals and don't hit them ET wise, I just mod til I get there!

Yea that's what in saying I wouldn't get a bunch of opinions and set hard goals for it to be a certain time ya know?

Also I would go ahead and up the stall I made the mistake of getting a 2,200 stall and regretted it ever since.

Haha that's what im having to do, just wish I never set that goal in my head lol

2,200... Might be the smallest stall ever! HAHA

I like big converters. I had a 4400 in my last car, this one has a 4000. 1.4X short times full weight with a baby cam!

Thanks guys appreciate all the feedback. The 2800 stall was what I thought I should have since its my DD. Had a 2800 in the 4.3 and it was like a slipping clutch till about 2900. I did drive the truck with the 6.0 (the first time) for about 30 miles and with the V8 it was a lot different. Didn't experience any of that. I have been thinking of sending my converter in and have it redone. I was thinking 3400. In talking to the company they said to run it and see what it does and then we'll go from there. With street tires it didn't seem like it was locking. Then again it could have been the tires spinning.
I know that it's hard to suggest any times or mph's. Just was looking for some input. Thanks

Engine is just being finished at LME in Houston and should ship about middle of this week. I drive truck for a living so it will probably be a few weeks before it will be in. ( plus I'm old and slow and grumpy) I will probably change to 4.56's some time in the near future. Need to see what happens with it this way.And I do have some ideas for the future. Heads--?Cam ?-- rockers, springs, drive gears. And of course stall converter.

No way would I go with that low of a gear.. Something in the 3.7 range is plenty low enough. You won't knock much off you et, you will lose around 5000000 mpg lol..

Autos don't need an extremely low gear to run quick. Change your converter to something in the 3500+ range and it will run like a completely different animal.

That cam is on the small side.. it will have extremely good manners but you will make some nice power and good fat tq down low.

What casting head do you have?

Not to worried about MPG. The heads are in the garage on the work bench and its to cold to go look at 2 am. They are off a 2004 chevy 3500. They are cathedral port heads. In a couple of seasons was going to go with a good set of ported trick flows or ....???? and change cams. Need that long to get some $$ back in the account.( YEA as if that is possible) The track I go to is 7 miles from my house and the class I was planning on running in was changed to 1/8th mile. So I thought the lower gears would get me there quicker. and yes I'm going to have my converter reworked.
