So how am I taking out M6 cars in my lowly a4 car? lol

New car with somebody that can't drive it well. You just put your foot down. You gotta be pretty full of yourself to really think a 4th gen is faster than a 5th gen stock v. stock.

Ive driven plenty of 5th gens as well. They dont launch worth half a ****, they are heavier, and they lose ALOT of hp through the driveline. From what ive seen the 4th and 5th gens are pretty on par. I have yet to see a 5th gen m6 ss do better than 12.9. The majority around here run anywhere from 13.1to13.7 depending on car and driver. Which is about the same you can expect out of the stock 4th gens. I wouldnt put my money on my car over a random 5th gen ss, i would say its anyones guess whos going to come out on top.

I've said it SOOO many times before... what YOU personally see has no bearing on what the cars are capable of. Stock M6 5th gens have gone 12.5x. 5th gen > 4th gen.

To each their own, I trust what ive seen over what ive read. I wouldnt put money on either one and would give either one equal chance at a victory in a 1/4 mile.

best chance a 4th gen has is from a dig. i absolutely LOVE 4th gens but people are ignorant to think they are faster than 5th gens. stock vs stock with equal drivers 5th gen has the edge.

I would think that bolt-ons, mild weight-reduction and traction would put the 4thGen ahead. The 5thGens are tricky to launch, but move out once rolling as evidenced by their trap-speeds.

Best bet? Sticky tires and race from a dig...

Read my above response. I'd be way more willing to believe my own eyes then what an internet know-it-all cheerleader wants me to believe. And so would any other normal human being with common sense.

That's cool, believe whatever you'd like. But this thread is supposed to be about what the CARS are capable of. And the 5th gen Camaro is faster than a 4th gen F-body.

So if I saw an '03 Cobra with a Stage IV Eaton port, SRA, and a 75 shot run a 12.3 @ 112mph, I should just assume that's the best the car can do? Or do I go off the fact that other more capable drivers have gone low 10s @ 130mph+ and realize that it can do better? I think you just like picking fights.

Dude, take it easy....

I smoked one, and others have had the same experience. You are right to say that but look at the numbers they are making ( the 5th gens). They are awfully close to what the 4th gens were making.

The 4th gens are lighter and more aerodynamic. ****, what the numbers say! In real life they are even.

I expected GM to bring out a more capable platform....IIMO they failed.

I can't speak from personal experience but I do know that those 20" rims require more energy to rotate and I also know that the third gens are extremely heavy I also know that IRS is much more difficult to launch.

I can see it being a drivers race either way but an M6 with tires would beat the fifth gen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iOpOtxufko

A4 + Stall + Tires and the fourth gen would win

Stock vs Stock though I would think it would depend on the driver both cars being manual. Manual fourth gen vs auto fifth gen I think the manual would win...

The fifth gens aren't a very good drag racing platform either way.
1.) Too Heavy
2.) IRS

Your examples are getting dumber and dumber.......

Don't be stupid.....sales are up, way up. GM didn't create a platform to please you. They produced a platform that would sell its *** off while making money and luckily for us it still remained somewhat competitive. GM doesn't give a damn about true enthusiasts, they are trying to appeal to the greater masses so that they can attempt to stay afloat.

Why that makes me stupid?

The remark only makes YOU the stupid. No, the platform did not pleased me, nor it did to many. I guess that makes them stupid.

Seriously I dont care if youre a mod, try a little more respect next time, its not that difficult.

I agree... but the fact still remains that the CARS are faster than the 4th gens. Of course on the street you're going to run into somebody that you can beat in a stock/near-stock 4th gen, and you're going to see people run at the track who can't drive the car to their potential. But it is the POTENTIAL that the OP was asking about.

And since Redfire likes comparing the Mach 1/4th gen so much, and keeps saying how the 4th gen is the faster car based on the best et/trap that each has run (which nobody argues)... the best time for a 5th gen Camaro is .3-.4s quicker than the best time for the 4th gen. Which by his own saying, doesn't even make it a driver's race.

Only makes it a drivers race if you believe drivers race = 'im always the best driver'

I didn't CALL you stupid, i said don't be stupid. There's a difference.

Question, does your grammar get worse when you are upset? Come on man you're a Dr......I would expect exquisitely written responses backed by well thought out examples and verified facts. Any less and I'm quite disappointed.
