c5 z06 vs. 2000 SS .....how will my car stack up?
I drive the 2000 SS 6 speed. It has full exhaust, ls6 intake, ms3 can, and.is dynotuned. Made 373rwhp on a slipping clutch.. but now its replaced.
My.buddy.has an '04 z06 that he thinks he will "run all over my *** with. It has a vararam, throttle body, magnaflow Fatback, and he has tuning software he did some tweaking on.
What do you guys think? We both have stock gears, both full weight.

i have a similar set-up on my ws6. raced a stock 04 or 05 c5 and it was way faster. we did 50,60 and 70 mph rolls. also in that mix was an m5 bmw with intake, exhaust and headers. i pulled on him every time.

The zo6is basically an fbody with slightly better gearing 400 or so #s taken out, along with ls6 intake, exhaust, ls6 cam, ls6 heads, cai, and a tune..
I wouldn't take this race lightly.. a stock z will trap 112-115.. add the few bolt ons he has and he should be able to turn 115-117 pretty easily. And because of weight gearing and aero, should pull harder up top than your car.
Op, i don't see you trapping higher than 117 with the mods listed or 415rwhp.
Run them and post the results in here!

A 04 Z06 weighs about 3200 pounds and most dyno numbers that I have seen are around 350 RWHP stock, pretty much the same in 02,03 & 04. Stock gearing on the Z06 is 3.42. The mods your buddy has may add 15 hp, bringing him to 365. If you know how much your car weighs, then calculate the power to weight ratio to see if you will be in the ballpark. You might have an advantage from a dead stop as the Vette will light up the tires in 1st. A high speed roll will not work to your advantage as the Vette is slicker and once you are in third, you don't shift the Z06 out of 3rd until hitting around 100. Let us know how you make out.

Most weigh in the 3060-3150 range actually.. Full exhaust they will reach low-mid 30xx.
The mn12 trans is geared differently than the t56, more aggressive.
I have seen more like 360-365 being the average for 02-04. All depends on the dyno though.01s are closer to 350.
Just thought I would share my experience.

Just thinking out loud, but 01-04 Z06's have very similar equipment as there were few options. Body side moldings don't add much weight. I can't see a difference of 100 to 150 pounds on 2 stockers unless one has no fuel and the other is full. I could be wrong, but some Z06's may have come through with titanium cranks and rods, possibly a COPO deal that I did not know about.

My 02 z28 put down 379 rwhp and my 03 z06 put down 364 rwhp on the same dyno. Both cars are for the most part stock (yeah I think I got a factory freak z28). The z06 is consistiantly is .3 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. Hands down the z06 is going to win.....

I have an 02 ss with a polluter cam and some other supporting mods( in my sig) and i raced a buddies bolt on 04 c5 z06 (catback and a tune i believe), we did two 40 rolls to 120 and i pulled him a hood both times, it was a great race but i also spun a little and he didnt. I have tires now and think i can maybe get a car ahead now.
So if that helps you guesstimate the outcome any there you go.
