For what it's worth, I ran one of the new m6 2013 5.0's with bolt-on's and DRs a few weeks ago twice from a dig, and they were tight runs. I got him the first run, but he missed third, he got me by about 3/4 of a car coming back. I'm just bolt on's and 4000 stall, on nearly bald nitto DRs. A v6 should be nothing.

Damn Andy thanks for the heads up man I'm currently getting my cam installed and have new dual valve springs pushrods and lifter put in as well the only good news is the guy who had the car before me had the heads worked and they are hand milled my mechanic said that do to the amount of head work on my stock Ls1 heads (cant remember if there 243's or 241 lol) ill have over 400rwhp and over 400 rwtrq so i got lucky.

my cam goes in first week of february.
for what its worth, I raced a 5.0 the other day. probably a stock one, but my bolt on, stalled trans am pulled ever so slightly till he shut it down.

dude has been ducking me for months. he was a facebook badass, and no hes nowhere to be found. he must have heard through the grape vine about the stall and the cam I ordered, which isnt going in for a week or so. I edged out a stock auto 5.0, (by a nose if that) and I dont think hes running with them. lol.

Any update on the race? I finally got my cam and everything else installed but then my tranny is going out yet again so I gotta get that fixed 
this summer ima get a price from hudlowaxle here in Chattanooga to build me a 12 bolt they are well known place. Id say you probably pulled 5-6 cars on his Dumbass bc honestly the LS1 motors put down some serious power being all motors and you def have the weight advantage as well.
