Alright guys want some opinion and or real world experience here. I understand rule of thumb every 100lbs is a tenth and 100lbs added needs roughly 10-15hp.
So my example here is take the c6 zo6 and its 31xx weight and its hp. Now what happens if you make a 4th gen camaro same weight and power OR started adding power to make up for the weight. Does it make it a close race and if more power how much to over come the weight. Seen videos of the new zl1 vs c6 zo6 and the zo6 starts walking it fairly fast.
600whp c6 zo6 vs 800whp ws6 procharged what would win given both manual both good drivers. Dig and roll.
Not looking for arguments just looking for personal thoughts for overcoming other cars... thanks everyone

He isnt doing the heads/cam until later this year, I destroyed him but isn't obviously wasnt fair as its stock now. We were just discussing what advantages the vette has and what it takes for other cars to overcome it. Would it really only take 10hp (roughly) per 100lbs to make it even? So if he made 600whp I could swap pullies and bring it down to roughly 650whp we should in theory be near even? Would 100whp be enough to win, more? Obviously gearing plays a roll as does traction we all understand that as well as power under the curve.

Once you get to higher speeds, aerodynamics plays a role as well.
I'd say as is though your car would win,but in theory if you brought your car down to 650 I would guess he would start to pull on you in the top end.

Now, a 700+ RWHP nitrous car could stay closer
575 uncorrected RWHP at tracks in excess of 2000' DA for me, where I trap 10.40's at 133-136 MPH.........standing 1/2 mile at 166 MPH....standing 1 mile at 194....for reference.
I also took my car in stock form with a drag radial to a 10.84@127.
A properly driven C6 Z06 is a pretty hard car to beat.
I'm not sure what it takes to get an f-body down to 3000 lbs or lighter, but we who regularly race our Z06's are in the sub 3000 lbs easily (minus driver, and 1/4 or less fuel).

I always figured all things being equal such as driver/traction it would take an fbody 100whp extra to make up the difference. A friend runs 9.55 at 145 in full weight with same build as me but him being a 416, both of us t56 cars made for the street both making 8xxwhp. So it's not really a fair fight with the only 2 zo6's I'm friends with as they both just run basic stuff with street wheels/tires etc. They are amazing cars for sure and if I didnt build my car ground up id look at getting one. I will say I'd be pretty disappointed if we were a close race with me having 200whp more than him, but I'm already building my new setup and looking to make roughly 10001000-1100whp next season haha. Before I went procharger my car weighed 3193 with around half a tank of fuel.
Impressive stuff man. I like using the zo6 as the example car for a good reason.

In cool air, my stock C6 Z06 pretty much ran head to head with a few local 2013 Shelby GT500's on highway rolls....... summer air, my Z would pull them pretty good because of their poor IAT's. At the drag strip.....I would take them out regularly.
So many variables LOL
