Default Cape Cod people!

I've made an online petition for cape cod to secede from massachusetts @ http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/s...cod/index.html
If you think its a good idea please sign it! Im also making regular paper petitions that I will be passing around as well. I'm hoping theres going to be allot of support for this, I know everyone I've talked to so far agrees it would be a really good idea. If nothing else we can at least show Beacon hill we're not happy at all with whats going on in this state!
spread the word!

we have no winter economy but I have an idea for that as well. instead of having a state income tax we could have a state property tax like NH or TX and a slightly higher rate for people with 2nd homes that don't live here but vacation here. this would also make it easier for us young people to save up to be able to one day even afford to own a home in our hometowns. and it would also encourage these rich snobs to rent out their houses instead of having these big empty houses sit empty for most -or in some cases all of the year.
I think a state prop tax coupled with being freed from the financial burden of the big dig and beacon hill's pork barrel spending, we'd have all the money we need and all the towns would even see an increase of state aid. if that still doesnt cut it we could always put up toll booths at the bridges for all non-residents

move to cape cod lol idk try to join the secession! you could always sign the petition as well and help support this message of disgust

I realize this is pretty far fetched these days, not only would we need to get it passed in the state legislature but also in congress. like I said tho at the very least we would be sending beacon hill a strong message. but who knows, we're supposed to be a gov't of the people, for the people and if we had overwhelming support on the cape, they should have to approve it.

I'll be honest, sometimes I really hate living here. Especially trying to get around in the summer!

It does suck sometimes in the summer, but i manage to find **** to do. Anyways i dunno about being our own state, be pretty weird. As far as economy goes we have fishing as the biggest thing i guess. The summer is the big money maker may through oct. I really just dont see this happening. How many capeies we have on here anyways, we should have a meet.

summer is a cluster **** but I wouldnt trade it for anything w/ all the foreign chicks around. I just wish I could take the summer off and fish all winter..I HATE the winters here and the local chicks that stick around are all ho bags imo
anyways fishing is a big part of our economy ATM but take it from me it doesnt look good for the fishing industry with all these so called 'scientists' and politicians calling the shots. -another reason why we should form all own state! then we could have 3 states fighting the feds in court over fishing regs(NH, MA annnd CC)

For the canal I recommend a heavy rig. Bring a lot of sinkers, you'll need them if you're using cut real bait. That current can get fast, and depending on where you go it can be rocky. I can't think of the name of the fish we cut up to use as bait, but pretty much every bait shop will have lots of them in a freezer. Herring maybe? I dunno.

Bucktail jigs are pretty popular too. Everyone seems to use white. I don't think it matters too much. If they're running, you're group will probably go home with more fish than you can eat no matter what bait. Personally I like real bait since you can catch other stuff (usually just sand sharks and skates).

Well, i know if you know how to net, your all set. Personally ive never netted poogies, I kno the pros around the area, its what they do. I use chunked mackrel. I kno quite a few people that kno how jig the canal, Im just wayy to lazy to keep casting re casting hoping for the best. I just wanna cast and be done with it, till my rod bends in a 90 degrees. Me and my brother usually fish all up and down the mass coast from boston bay to the hull gut, from scituate down duxberry, alittle bit of plymouth. But ive found the best fishing to be be at ole silver beach down the cape. seems on high tide if your swimming they swim right under your legs, like you could actually pick them with your hands. I wanna learn how to net this year though.. it seems to be the key.. live bait i mean. lol i looked like a total tool coming down Rt3 with a 12 foot fishin rod strapped to the top of the z28.. old timers are driving past me, givin me the thumbs up. the skates and sand sharks ruined my fishing all last year, i didnt kno we had so many sharks and skates in our waters. it amazes me.

yeah and for some reason dog fish(sand sharks) are on the endangered species list. (Im a commercial fisherman btw so the net I use is diff from the ones your thinking of .) years ago the gov't cut the commercial quota down so much that its not really profitable for us commercial guys to go after them anymore(besides for gill netters). They were *** deep out dragging this season, we would be throwing 10k-20k pounds of dog's over a day and of course its impossible to kill the buggers. one tow we had to haul back after towing for only 5 minutes cause the boat just about came to a stop. when we got the net to the stern it was a 20ft long 6ft wide sausage of solid dog fish. we didnt even try bringing it aboard, I jumped over board on top of the thing and let the cod end go. a couple other boats were going by as we were dealing with the net and they all came to a stop too and when they hauled back they all had solid bags of dog's.

and these are predators! if the gov't wants to help fish stocks they should let us go after these things again. 3000lbs @ 30 cents is nothing guys used to bring in 30k-50k pounds of these things a day!
