The G8 looks a LOT better than the GTO. You can't compare a GTO to an M5 either, but the G8 on the other hand is the american M5

whats the insurance difference? i test drove a g8 gt and wasn't impresseed with the interior at all. soo many chincy ***** and weird buttons. havent been in a gto but for the money the g8 wasn't worth it to me. if that doesnt bother you then go with the g8 its def a more convenient dd.

GTO over a GT by far. A GXP would be the only version I would consider.

With my GTO, I gained 32rwhp over stock with a CAI and tune and went 12.6@112 with my only trip to Atco on stock tires. Its comfortable as hell, just a blast to drive. Looks are subjective but I get compliments all the time and prefer the look over the G8. The drivetrain has been amazing, haven't broken a single thing despite some rough driving and having a 6 speed. Overall great car, wish I could say the same about the WS6, as much as I love that car as well.

I feel the G8 is superior to the GTO, The handleing is better stock vs stock, and the GTO design is a bandaided to sell here in the US, the GTO has no trunk because they had to move the gastank from the AU version. Also the 4 doors rule. If you plan on modding it the G8 aftermarket is comming on strong, The GTO just used existing tech so most of the after market was there already. I bought a 09 G8 GT for my wife and love it. We looked at the GXP and felt it was not worth the 10K extra + dealer markup. and they hit you with a fed gas guzzler tax on the GXP, but if you want a stch its the only choice, but the auto is very nice in a sedan.

I work at a pontiac dealer for last 5 years or so and I can say that I would rather have a G8 over a GTO. I think that they look so much better and they handle better than the GTO. That is just me I also think the G8 is a little more practical than the GTO. But to each his own.

You know they put the gas tank in the trunk in AU aswell, for 05/06 right?

We just got the in-between version of the car. 04 was a mutt VZ monaro front end, and VX everything else except the gas tank location.

I am in the same boat with my girl, she wants to get a new car...I had an 04 goat and it was ok but I wish I would have waited and bout an 05 M6 think I would have been alot happier with the car. she doesn't want the M6 so thats out but she really liked my GTO and I told her she could save alot of money by getting a GTO. but then again they are running some good deals on the G8 and she really likes them also..i'm impressed with the G8 so far I think they look great and they come in white which would be the only color to get.. tough choices
