Tough call.

The G8 will give you way more cargo and passenger room, but you will only have an automatic option unless you go with the expensive GXP model.

GM has a $3,000 kickback or 0% on the G8 right now. However you can get a nice slightly used 06 GTO for under 20k.

For a D/D with some utility I say the G8. If you want a sporty car to play with then GTO.

I will say G8, ive been in both and with the 6 speed auto, it makes up so much of a difference and seems that 6L80e is just the perfect split of gearing and durability. The Room is phenominal compared to the GTO. I sat SO comfortable in the rear and im 6'4" plus like said the incentives are there.

Obviously the GTO will be cheaper but not looking at the finances I'd say the G8 all the way, it's way more of a car than a GTO IMO. But what exactly do you want out of the car? The GTO will be faster out of the box and will be faster with mods but the G8 is more luxury.

Personally I'd go with the G8. I like a big 4 door for the daily driving duty. The GTO's are great cars, and I was going to pick up either an LS2 GTO, C5Z or an 03 Cobra last go around. I'd just stick with a 4 door for everyday though, it's convenient.

Either you need a 4 door (family car) or you don't. You may want a brand new car (G8GT) or a slightly used 06 GTO. We don't know. The only thing that we do know is that we will not be signing on the bottom line and paying for it - you will. Make a decision for you and not us. Just saying.

I'm digging the G8's right now. Of course I'm not a big racer...I'm more into just "cruisin'". Not sure which is better for you application.

You sure can. You only need to add an extra 10 minutes to your commute time because of the slow azz seat motor (ha-ha).

If you want a 4-door DD get an used *cough* STi*cough*. I mean I'd take the GTO over the G8, but that's just me.
