Default I知 in the December issue of HOT ROD Magazine!

As many of you know, I went to Z-Max Raceway in North Carolina to compete in the Hot Rod Drags in early August.
It was a great time.
We even did our 30 mile cruise inside of Lowes Motor Speedway.
Literally on the NASCAR race track!
(It was more like 50+ miles)

I qualified for the Quick-8.

On page 50 they wrote how I defeated a 10.15 @ 137 Mustang GT500 in round 1.

On Page 52 is the group shot. (I am the Silver Camaro all the way to the right).

Then on page 54 they wrote a little caption about my car and included a picture of me doing a nice burnout.

I am telling you guys, this is a must attend event.
I had a great time and it is closer to us than the LSX Shootout in Memphis, if traveling is a concern for you?

It is an NMCA event that pits Detroit Late Model Muscle Cars against one another.
It was LSx vs. Modular vs. Hemi.

In the end, the LSx cars reigned supreme.
Three of the final four were GM (Camaro, Corvette & Trans Am) and the one Hemi got annihilated by the Trans Am, which was the eventual winner.

Yeah, they got my name right..LOL

Here is a link to the event coverage.
http://www.streetlegaltv.com/forum/h...rage-3415.html

Not many pictures of my car in the link. (only one actually)
I am pictured with the two Mustangs and the white Trans Am a good ways down.
(Right under the video)

I am also in the Video for about a second. Good video.
They actually show the first round of the Quick-8 where I took out the Mustang.

Redgar got better coverage online, I got better coverage in the magazine.
I think he has the internet rigged.

Farley got good coverage everywhere.

Real nice, the car gets the most national publicity that it's gotten in the nearly 8 years you've owned it and how are you planning on repaying it?
By relegating/retiring it to the garage and replacing it with a Corvette!

Cool news about the coverage man, sends the car's racing legacy out with sort of a bang.

Thanks guys!

Yes, well, the Camaro has been in:
-Raceway Park News
-Fastest Street Car magazine
(more than once, going to be in the next issue too)
-Now Hot Rod magazine.

I never really pursued GM High Tech for some reason?
My picture was in one issue once, but only by chance.

I have received decent Internet exposure as of late too.

The difference is, you have to race on a National level to get National exposure.
Like Redgar says, "you have to be in it to win it" or even be seen for that matter.
He has really motivated me to do these bigger races.
I always wanted to, but was apprehensive to do it alone.
Like Memphis, when we went to Z-Max, we had a nice crew, all from different shops and we all had a great time.
The common bond is being from the same area track and we are all NHRA Division 1 racers.

However, I was the only Camaro, everyone else was in a Vette.
So between the Corvette Challenge, the QTP series and the National racing scene, the Vette was the obvious choice.
The Corvette will be the race car, the Camaro will be the fast street car.
Win - Win...

My Z28 had a small photo in RP news once back in like 2002 and was in GM High Tech twice (QTP header/cut out tech article) as well.

I was making sure to do good burnouts because the cameras were everywhere.

Frank, I think you really could have done well at this event.
You should consider it for next year?

You too Mark, but I know you don't have a trailer and you can't drive that far on race gas.

I can drive it there on pump, not out of the question and I have AAA so next year we'll see.
With the Gear Vendors maybe the trip would be doable.

Congrats, my issue showed up yesterday, I was reading it last night after seeing something on here about it.

I've never had my sled in a magazine... been on tv with it once though, guess it was nice enough looking for that

Nice job!

Maybe someday, got to get things going better, or get it a hell of alot cleaner to make that happen. I've seen Anonymous's car, his ride is spotless clean and runs damn good, he's got that sleeper thing going really good.

My junk's not up to par with that kind of stuff, looks the part but doesn't run the # to back up the look... got a ways to go before it does IMO.

Thanks again Guys.

Bruce you should definitely come, not only could your car make the drive, but you also have a truck & trailer.

Mark, I forgot about the Gear Vendors, you might be able to get that to work.
Especially with the pump gas.
It's pretty much a straight shot to Z-Max from where I live. Like 2 turns. LOL
There was not any traffic, so your converter should not overheat the fluid.

JL thank for the complements, but your car is far from "junk".
I have seen it.
It's just that my car has 6000 original miles.
The sleeper look? What ever are you talking about?
Although I have been known to drive my 10 second car around with the ugly stock 16" 2002 Z28 wheels on it from time to time.
What are drag radials?

I seem to remember you coming down to e-town for the Quick Time-8 and winning on your first try!
Believe me your car is magazine material, no doubt.

All you guys should come to Z-Max next year. I really had the best time.
All the North East guys stuck together and pitted together etc...
It really was a good time and the NMCA is first class!

Ya had radials on the car last time I saw it for the Q8 race I went to last year on a set of stock 16's.. But if that's not the norm, I definitely stand corrected.

And please.... I used to think my car was clean until I saw all the Jersey guys's cars... I have work to do IMO.

When I get it apart and back together, then you will see clean

Real funny.

JL, you're outta luck, GMHTP already did a North East WS6!

Steve, only 2 turns? That's good cause I'd be rolling on skinnies.

JL just being funny/sarcastic, you are right.
I think that day I had the black salad shooters on the back with Good Year Drag Radials.
I do play the sleeper roll.
Stock wheels, no roll bar and I claim to have never heard of "Drag Radials".

(you never know who is reading these boards) LOL....

Yeah but it's not really a ws6 anymore, doesn't even look like one.

Besisdes... when I get done, it's not going to be the average run of the mill 9 second car anymore, it will attract a different level of attenion.
