new strange axles arrived
The pocket milling looks awesome
the pair (including wheel studs and bearings) are 6lbs lighter than the old mosers. So, in all, I took about 14 lbs off the rear

got a little bit done this morning...
disassembled the 3rd member and cleaned everything in my parts washer. Then I reassembled everything with 3.40 PRO gears (had 3.70 PRO gears in before). That 3rd member holding fixture is something I bought a few years ago and its really PIMP for this stuff
for the record...ARP bolts suck for 9" fords...they made the shoulder too long for the spool and it wouldn't seat the ring gear all the way before bottoming out on the shoulder...had to resort to grade 8 bolts
and thats not blood in the 3rd picture...thats redline shockproof gear oil
