Default I finally have a complete engine!

It's taken a couple of years, but my new engine is finally done! The deal started in when I bought a 403ci LS2 short block from Weber Racing. This was the same time there were a bunch or horror stories going around about scetchy workmanship and an employee ripping people off. After talking with other Weber customers, and hearing about engines having low oil pressure, and smoking, I decided I should have it checked out.

I ended up sending the short block to Erik Koenig of HK Enterprises to have him go through it and finish up the build for me. Upon disassembly, he found the mains and rods were tight and two rings were upside down. Hearing this made me feel it was worth having him take a look at it.

I had Ed Curtis of FTI build me a set of custom 250cc AFR heads. He starts with an AFR "pro porter" castinga and runs a CNC program through them. It's basically a small port casting that allows the porter to place the ports where they choose. After the CNC process Ed does the finish/blending work by hand. There are a couple of different choices on port size and you can use any valve and spring that best suits your application. There are some pics of the ports below.

It's going in my 99 Camaro with a Vortech T-Trim blower and LS6 intake at some point. I just bought a house three weeks ago so the car may be on the back burner for a bit.

Here's a run down on what's in this thing...

403ci LS2
K1 Tech 4.000" crank
K1 Tech 6.125" rods
FTI 250cc AFR heads
Wiseco -20cc pistons
HKE Comp LSL cam
Morel hydraulic lifters
Ferrea 6000 2.10"/1.60" valves
PAC 1521 valve springs
Yella Terra rocker arms
Manton Pushrods
Rollermaster timing chain
ARP main/head studs

That was my concern at first too Don, but Ed thought they would be the way to go. Afterall, guys run 225's on 346's with no problem, and L92's are bigger right from the get-go.

I agree. A big stroker revving to 9k rpm. On a street motor a big head can kill midrange in a bad way. With heads like above I would expect the cam to be in the 220's at most for boost.
